Time for a new PSU....suggestions?
Well....i think my PSU is dying
which kinda makes me angry because it was a perfect match for my clear case. Anyway, I get random restarts under load. I may go for a few days without on then maybe two or three in a row and then one an hour later.......really random . I'm assuming its the PSU just being over taxed but who knows. In any case I need something very reliable and that will last awhile......also.....it has to look GOOD

You might want to take a look at the Corsair HX series.
Damned nice PSUs and good looking in an understated way. Tare modular, and with your clear case, that would be a plus as you won't have to hide unused wiring.

Only one i'd personally recommend is the Enermax Galaxy 850/1000. Don't get me started on OCZ PSU's again
. Nice RAM though.

Ok so maybe the enermax isnt the only one i'd put my name too, I forgot about my little Hiper480W thats been running for about 3 years flat out, bought it from PCWorld too
thats a swear word in the uk. Lovely looking bit of kit, shiny as a mirror, shame it's locked away in my un-windowed case.

im actually looking into getting this one Newegg.com - XION Supernova XON-600F14R-201 ATX12V 600W Power Supply 115/230 V cUL, CE, FCC, CB - Retail
Im looking for a 600+watts modular for around 100 or less? anything better in that price range that you guys know of ? it has to be modular i hate all these cables.

I did a quick search and could only find one review of it: Xion Supernova 600W Power Supply Review - Hardware Canucks
They weren't impressed. Lots of show but not too much go, and significant ripple in the output, which is a show stopper for me. If you are looking for 600+ watt/moduar, you are going to spend more than 100.00 if you want to get a good one. Looking at your specs, why use a cheap PSU and risk damaging quality components? Don't be cheap and skimp on the PSU, it's the most important component in your system. Go for something on the list that Necrosis posted, and take a particullarly good look at the Seasonic, and Corsair HXs (made by seasonic). Also check out reviews at this site: jonnyGURU's Personal Website He's about as good as it gets for PSU reviews.

for from 600W to 650W, i think these are among the good power supplies out there... check them out.
EMACS/Zippy GP2-5600V (High Efficiency - G2) or EMACS GSM-6600P (Gaming - G1), PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610, Corsair HX-620, Enermax Infinity 650, SilverStone Tech. OP650. |

From the current guide at jonnyguru, modular PSUs for high-end PCs: Tier 2: Enermax Galaxy Enermax Infiniti Thermaltake Toughpower (1000W+) Tier 3: Antec True Power Quatro Seasonic S12 and M12 Corsair line Tier 4: Antec NeoHE Thermaltake Toughpower (<1000W) Enermax Liberty 620W The 620W Corsair is around $120 (as well as the 620W Enermax Liberty), that's probably the best deal on a modular PSU you're going to find.

well I'm not necessarily needing a modular PSU to be honest
I'm good enough at hiding cables that I don't have to worry....its just been a long time since i've bought a PSU so i didn't know who was good and who sucks

a power supply failures is ranked number one of the most common ways to kill a computer, it's not hard to believe this, isn't it? i'll try to find the article i read a few days ago.
buy a good power supply and also try to get a high enough wattage power supply for your computer, is a must. |

yeah.....this PSU handles my computer for now.....at least until payday lol....but yeah it will take whatever i throw at it unless im running multiple games and apps all at once...then the psu output air gets super hot and shortly thereafter BAM! a nice random restart

the cost is around 195 USD for the GP2-5600V (High Efficiency - G2) and 180 USD for the GSM-6600P (Gaming - G1), both are 600W, it may be chaper in the US, but if you couldn't find them, it's probably not available or well known in the US then. |

if the power supply is enough for your needs, i think the $129.99 is quite a bargain for that PSU.
