As I said S-IPS monitors are more expensive, much more.
If you don't want to use the monitor to make money, there is no reason to not get a P-MVA panel.

eh..... that dell thing looks like something my uncle would call cheap (HD fanatic) actually.... he DID call it cheap! crazy guy....
i may find a way yet to buy a huge monitor, but i may not. so i guess ill go with S-PVA or P-MVA so is TN really the worst of the bunch?

Usualy good and cheap do not go together. I don't know Sceptre and I wouldn't buy from them.

Guys do yourselves a favor and don't overlook the NEC displays. I'm not joking when I say that I have never seen such quality control in my life. The fit and finish is beyond anything I have seen before, ever. Believe it or not this 2470WNX is unlike any other S-PVA panel I have seen. I cannot believe the uniformity of the backlight with no leakage whatsoever and somehow even the colors look a ton better than the HC dell I had. It is super expensive for the size/panel used but now I understand why. Everything from way its packaged, to the joystick control, to the ability to adjust the power led brightness screams quality. It even has the best cable management I've seen. I am totally sold. My next lcd is also going to be an NEC without second thought. Bye bye everyone else lol.
Yes, I'm that happy

I wouldn't completely call out TN as a NON option...
but apparently the damn good TN panels are bloody expensive.

You're looking at the wrong stores in that case, I see it available to order at 3 different sites for $550.

Think I finally found me a true gem of a display. I bought and returned four lcd's this past month (yes, Dell hates me for real) but this one is not going anywhere for a very long time. This NEC 2490WUXi is absolutely fantastic. Viewing angles are the best I have seen on any lcd and the colors are absolutely stunning at any angle. I love how it gives me control over everything but it is a little overwhelming. Gaming on it is out of this world with no banding/ghosting and lag is a lot better than dell 2407 and nec 2470wnx. I have not found a reason to enable overdrive yet. It was expensive for a 24" but it was worth every penny. My search is done

Nice. If i didn't have a 24", i would buy that. But it's a little too expensive for a second 24"...

Yeah, that looks awesome... doubt I could bring myself to pay that much for a 24" though, I'd probably just get a 30" instead. Especially with cheapo 24" screens selling for just under $400 now.

doesnt Dell use the same panel in their 30" 2560x1600 monster monitor?

I thought about the 30" but its a monster. I cant sit in front of that for too long and it would probably kill my games. Keeping it at 24" I think it was a good choice but now I also have to a new monthly bill I have to worry about
![]() Edit- Looking around the web (not many reviews on this thing btw) I found that it uses an H-IPS. I think the dell uses an S-IPS panel Last edited by dipstick; Nov 21, 2007 at 06:41 AM. |

the nice thing about the 30" 2560x1600.... is that is actually has a "2nd" native resolution exactly a quarter... 1280x800..... typically going to any other resolution would look utterly disgusting, but theres not many monitors you can do this while keeping a perfect 1:1:4 ratio setup.....
course it kinda defeats the purpose of high resolution lol, but it takes full advantage of the screens size in desperate performance situations without making things look blurry as hell, ugly distored at the same time.

That's pretty neat and very welcome as gaming at its native rez would kill single card setups. But it's just to much screen area either way, my eyes would ignite in my darkish room. I'll agree that its the best bang for the buck though. The 3008fpw is on the way and it looks mighty impressive also

mmmm 3008wfp...
actually that's one thing that i kinda "shrugged off" about the 3007..... no other ports to plug anything into.. to bad no xbox360 or PS3 could possibly render @ 2560x1600 though...

Other than the high brightness (500 cd/m2), it looks good. As already stated in the url it might be using the same S-PVA panel found on the HP LP2465. |

can anyone tell me the best place to buy/sell dell monitors. I have many of them left as overstock that I want to get rid of, but I am new to this forum. Is this the best place to go, or can someone direct me? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

i've recently bought a samsung pebble monitor. it's really good looking and i highly recommend one
although i'm sure half of you will turn your nose up at it because it doesn't support 5746565x48757474 resolutions for you to brag about |

I found the SOYO Topaz S series 24" (model DYLM24D6) for around $300's (or sometime Office Max sales) is best bang for the bucks. It uses PVA panel; very nice contrast / colors / view angle, and the only con is the black level but good enought.
PVA use 8-bit like some IPS, while S-PVA have deeper black level. My friend Toshiba Regza 42" 42HL167 also used PVA panel had excellent black level and for $1300. I'm very happy with my Soyo 24". |
