USB Device has malfuctioned...
How often does this occur for anyone of you?
The first time it happened when i had a microsoft inteliexplorer 2.0 mouse where the cord had been broken, it would work and then not work and oventually a popup would state it had malfuctioned.. that's normal. but what about NEW stuff.. The first thing i had fail was just recently with a logitech usb optical mouse.... plugged it in fresh outa the box.... failed.. and JUST today, received a sandisk m250 2gb mp3 player.... had great reviews, someone wanted it specifically from me.. received it, popped the box open, plugged it in to do a test run make sure things are working, and instantly greeted with the usb failed.. Initially i was thinking "oh great, a vista incapbility"... plugged it into a xp pro sp2 machine, same thing.. whipped out an older machine, plugged it in, and volla, worked... kinda..... usb 1.1 however, only allows me to transfer one song at a time, sometimes it doesn't completely the transfer... seems really glitchy... even crashes windows media player 11 occasionally... Popped a USB 2.0 pci card into that same machine, booted up, plugged it in... usb failed...??? plugged it into the usb 1.1 slots again... partially works. I think i just received a bloody dud.. what's worse, i can't return the sucker even if i've only just received it and it's only been a day since i bought it.... special orders suck... Still waiting on sandisk support to get back to me.... but dammit, always seem to get duds.

it's probably just a dud drive like you think if it should be USB 2.0-compatible.
but always be careful when using USB connection. USB mishaps and short circuits... "The USB drive melted in my hand..." read on... Beginners Guides: Most Common Ways to Kill a PC - PCSTATS.com |

The shipping alone for it is 25 bucks.. lol
105 is AT wholesale cost... i'd rather wait for sandisk to get back to me then send something i purchased for 105 for 25

BIOS built-in flash utility reports "BIOS ID check error" when reading BIOS file from some of my USB drives.
the utility will always give the error when i put the BIOS file on some certain USB drives. put the BIOS file in another USB drive or in a diskette will fix that. Last edited by PangingJr; Oct 24, 2007 at 08:34 PM. |

USB 3 dot oh

I dont suppose you plugged one of your USB hubs in wrong to the jacks on the board itself? Might have done what I did on Intel Badaxe 2 and plugged USB into 1394 instead because it wasnt labeled and was the same color
And now your stuff is getting eaten with the voltage 1394 is putting out.I killed 4 Ipod 8GB before I realized what was going on haha. |

er...
i unplugged my USB Flash drive i was using.. and plug the usb device into that port... i've yet to screw up on the USB headers though.... most of the cases i get have the headers built in a fashion that won't allow you to put it in wrong
