Dell Optiplex GX280 Bios does not recognize optical drive?
I have a Dell Optiplex GX280 and everything was working recently, until I added my Pioneer DVR-111L.
I have 2 optical drives, a dvd-rom and a dvd/cd-rw drive, and replaced the dvd/cd-rw drive with the Pioneer, and now everytime I boot the computer, the bios will not recognize the drive and says it's unknown I've swapped the jumpers on both drives and tried multiple ways to get it to work, it just does not recognize Primary Slave. Help

only thing i can think of is updating firmware of the drive in another system.
prebuilt systems are never meant to be upgraded....

good luck
my company has a couple hundred of those in use and upgrading the bios is about as far as you can go with that one ... each damn optiplex has a different type of part (example: swap dvd drive from one optiplex to another, other optiplex doesn't recognize it and has to search for it for a minute or two) DELL FTW... thank God the lease on the 270's ran out and the 280's are next. |
