Whats up with these temps?????

I just put on Arctic Silver Five paying close attention to how they say to apply it on there site and I know it says it will take some 200 hours to fully acheive it's max thermal transfer abillity but damn whats up with these temps they seem a bit high to me for stock clocks and such.

When it's said it'll take about 200 hours to achieve max thermal transfer the only thing you can do is take their word for it.
And at the end of the day it's only thermal paste, you aren't going to lose thirty degrees by putting a new brand on.

And PC Wizard has never been too accurate with my temps, not that i'm saying you should learn from other people's experience.

Mike, Coretemp is really the only "accurate" temperature reading software for Core2 lineup.....and the AS5 instructions for doing the line is bollox most of the time, just spread it very thin across the whole of the IHS and let pressure sort it out.

i always use a very heavy (stretchable) clean plastic bag to apply thermal paste to both the heatsink and the cpu before slapping them together..

i put it on just thick enough for both, that i cannot easily see the cpu/heatsink surface...

So far, every machine i've done that with have had excellent thermal disapation...

and i NEVER use the stock thermal "pad/Paste" crap...

Oh, and i clean the cpu and heatsink up with a q-tip and 99% rubbing alchol.

i usually use Arctic MX 1 or MX-2 compound, all i do is drop at the middle of a clean CPU die, a appropriate amount of the compound then mount the heatsink right away.

i've been using OCZ's silver baised compound recently.... i still prefer artic silvers "ceramique" (non conductive) thermal paste.. but i haven't been able to find it at all recently...

My method takes nearly a full half hour LONGER to do because it involves alot more tidious and slow work in preping both... but i think it has very good merit... Forceing the paste into the crevisis of the cpu/heatsink and then building a tight clean contact for both.

the intructions on how to apply the Arctic MX-1 the right way used to be at their web site years ago, there is pretty simple and with so little work. it's reason i keep using it, lol.

MX-2 is pretty easy to get now, Arctic Silver 5 is a thing of the past,

theres like 5 thermal compounds that beat it now

Still only 1 Coollaboratory Liquid Metal Pro

Which beats all current TIMs by at least 2-5C

yea... liquidmetal beats them all... since it generally unites the base to the heatsink....

I'm reasonably sure that PC Wizard, coretemp, and other software that reports temperature for specific cores, all read the temp from the same sensors, so they should all give the same results.

Hey Thanks alot guys for the response I think this cpu just runs real warm and toasty but I did however hit up the local shop for a new heatsink and a 120mm intake to replace the 80mm intake which I modified to fit on my side panel and now temps are about 10C lower. Here is a few picks of my setup.

Sorry my cell takes pretty lousy pics but it's all I got. Gotta love 2MP.
