I would also go with the E2140 if you plan on overclocking.

Its bases on the same core as the E4300 i do believe, and i loved mine it overclocked 100% with decent temps, and i ran source games just fine with a 7900 gs. I personally would go with an 8600GTS or 3850.

You should be able to get that CPU to 3.2 no problem with decent ram.

hes going with an E2180, little more expensive but still very good!

then hes going with Crucial DDR2 800 D9GMH VERY powerful sticks of RAM for the price

His videocard is an HD 3850 256mb, most powerful in its price range

hes pretty much all set.....

oh yea i think you can get a bigger HDD at newegg, i recommend seagate for the smaller sizes and WD for the bigger sizes.

ahhh the E4300... thats the uber C2D i believe aka cheap and overclockable, thats wat i was suggestin @ first but its been replaced by the E4400... i think... yea ill check the retailer lists @ DH, i thought NCiX priced match, no?... many thx to every1 who posted... special thx to kris23...

got some more things to ask now though... goin bak after im finished up wit exams and my friend is askin me to help build a new comp. for him.. he suggests a E6600 + 8800GT... any thoughts? i do believe that with any current mobo out now it wont support 45nm? also another friend also wants a new comp and wants to play crysis (ugh) but unless he gets an SLi 8800GT/GTX/Ultra i think its pretty much impossible to set the settings on high and get decent fps... im behind in my tech news cuz of exams/been a long time since i looked at this suff... wat do u guys think???

thx,
neezee

EDIT: i just glanced @ another thread aka the new mobo one... so x38 mobo will b able to support 45nm?

lets address that first question about the motherboards.

all the 3x series intel chipsets support 45nm processors, this includes chips such as G33, G35, G31, P31, P35 and X38

the nvidia 780i chipset also supports the 45nm CPUs

an E6600 is no longer being made by intel and is replaced by the cheaper e6550 and e6750, both being superior processors.

the Q6600 is the best choice though

an 8800GT is a fine card but with the 8800GTS, it is beaten and is all around more powerful and OCable

and for the guy who wants to build a system for Crysis at high, he will need a liquid cooled Q6600 or X3220 Xeon OCed to 3.8GHz, and dual 8800GTS's

i recommend EVGA

now thats just a general statement, if you want me to go in detail for each setup, i will man

hmmm interesting... i can still get the e6600, and im going to assume that the 6600 o/cs better than the 6650? the new 8800GTS are better than the GT as in the 512bm ones, have yet to read a review on the 512mb GTS' yet... i though evga wasnt that great or am i thinkin about XFX?

oh and plz do go into more detail just 1set up the non-crysis one... try to be as frugal as possible

cant thank u enough...

the thing is that more than likely, the e6600 is a B3 stepping or older as it has been replaced by its 1333mhz FSB counterparts on the MUCH better G0 stepping (G0's OC FAR better than their B3 and lower counterparts) also theres no e6650 man, not that i know of anyway....

EVGA is the best around here man, the most wanted cards in the industry, the most OCed cards in the industry, the best warranty in the industry

frugal huh? not my strong suite but it should come out with something.

lets see, first ill start with the e6600 guy:

no no, the newer the stepping the better, G0 is the best for OCing

it runs at a mere 95w and lower vs B3-B2 thats 105-130 (more power = more heat = enemy of CPU and pwning-ness)

also, for the first guy, the Maximus Formula is a VERY good board, of you can afford it anyway, if so then buy it!

thanks for the compliment man, appreciate it.

those measurements are probably 1/2 inch off, just a rough measurement since the case is right next to me and i have a measuring tape right here.

now that im on Christmas vacation as of yesterday, got all the free time in the world.
