scobywhru is on a distinguished road

isn't that the reason the KT400a chipsets aren't going to be Dual Channel? There just going to be optimizing the bus to and from the CPU and some other components

Bad idea... DDR400 isn't of any use with a 2600+ Cpu w/ 333MHz FSB. Actually, you'll get even less performance than with DDR333 memory, because memory and Cpu is running asynchronous
Really bad idea no. 2 is getting one 512MB stick - you definitely should rather get 2*256MB as this will enable you using the DualChannel feature, which will give you a nice performance boost
You can tell PC3200 memory to run at PC2700 synchronized to the FSB without an issue at all

Vamp what I was meaning was if you run the PC3200 memory at PC2700 then your bandwidth should be saturated

System Specs

I don't think you could ever hit 100% usage, due to memory latency . . .
Perhaps if you could get your memory to run at 0-0-0, maybe then
