??? Dead PSU ??

Gentlemen (and Grace )

I'm thinking that my Corsair 620HX just 'bit the big one'

I bought a CM690 case a month or 2 ago, and finally got off my dead butt, and moved my hardware into it. I've been putting it off since I also water cool, and it's PITA moving it all to a new case.

All seemed to go well, got it all moved, got the Exos hooked up and filled, and did a leak test. Now, to do that you don't plug in the 24 pin MB connector. You use a jumper between pins 4 & 6, then you turn on the PSU. Now, the Exos and the fans will run, and you can check for any leaks, and get the waterlines full and all of the air pockets/bubbles out of the lines.

I ran for that way for about a 1/2 hour total, and turned it off a couple of times, to top off the Exos, and make sure all bubbles were gone.

I pulled the jumpers, plugged in the 24 pin, and fired it up, and all seemed well. However, it didn't detect an IDE HDD on my PCI Promise controller. I use that because I only have one IDE Connector on the MB, and I don't want to run my DVD-RW on the same one as my HDD.

I powered down, looked to see that the 80 pin and power was connected to the HDD, and that it was connected to the controller. I also reseated the controller card, incase that was the problem.

I powered up again, and same thing. So, I powered down again, and checked all the connections again. This time i found that I didn't have the modular cable for power to the HDD plugged all the way in the PSU. I reseated that, and powered up. This time I am greeted by silence.

Now all I get if I push the power button is a quick flash of the LED in the fan, the fan twitches and nothing else.

I tried unplugging ALL the modular connectors, and jumping the pins on the 24 pin connector, and I get nothing there now either. I do notice that the FAN in the PSU will run when I switch it on, but that's apparently all that happens.

Anyone have any thoughts on where I should look/try next, or do you think the PSU is tits up, and I need to RMA it?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Called Corsair. Tech said to do the 'jumper on the 24 pin connector test', told him that I had already done that. He said, "It's dead, Jim".

Got an RMA number so I'm stuck on this old lappy untill I get the new one back.

I'll have to say that I was impressed with the Corsair tech. Non-Native English speaking chap, but not heavily accented, and didn't seem to be reading from a script. He asked questions, LISTENED to the answers, and was really helpful. I've been using Corsair RAM since I built my first system (1.2 Athlon), and this is the first time I've ever had to call them, or had any problem with one of their products.
