Best 24" Monitor for under £450

I have had personal expereince of the BenQ 24" and have to say it is superb, and I used it side by side with the latest Dell 24", which seemed to lack colour (possibly due to lack of burn in).
My question is are there any other to consider for this price point?

Cheers

I use a LG L245WPM since Summer of 2007. Very satisfied with it. IIRC I bought it for about 600 euros, so that would be lower than 450 GBP. If you can find it at a low price then it is worth it.

Hmm search for it here in UK and I only get weird foreign sites. If I take the M off the end then I get one for around £460 which I assume is the same?

IF you can find a NOS one, or even a good re-furbed one from a reputable dealer, nothing in 24" is going to touch the Sony FW900.

Of course it is a CRT, and it's frigging huge, and heavy, and takes up a lot of desk area...but for image quality, there isn't anything that can touch it.

I have the SGI branded version, and there isn't an LCD monitor on the planet that I'd trade it for.

I know, it's a dinosaur, but then again, so am I

Depends what part of the image quality you're referring to. Colours and videos are superb, but I find even relatively cheap LCDs (of the same size) to be easier on the eyes, with sharper text, for general web browsing or office work.

anything with an S-PVA or P-MVA panel is awesome, DoubleSight monitors are good from what i hear

BenQ are good so why don't you get another based off the P-MVA panel?

the BenQ FP241W is a good but somewhat expensive monitor, if you can afford it then its your best choice.

The LG model is a P-MVA. As for the M at the end, the M includes detachable speakers. The one without the M does not. As far as I know that is the only difference.
Avoid any model that is WTH or WTQ.

Here is a review from CNET UK LG Flatron L245WP Review on CNET.co.uk

Some details are a bit different from reality AFAIK...For example their review says that only a D-Sub cable was included, which is not what happened in my case...Also they say the monitor can wobble when shaken, so..I don't know what kind of logic that makes to you. I don't know any monitor that won't wobble if shaken. I did buy mine in Greece, but I doubt that makes much difference, if any.

Here is my own mini review, though hastly written and no pictures, it might help you a little.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, this is much appreciated. The BenQ I tried was the FP241W and it falls into budget now, and tbh it was my front runner. That LG looks promising however, and makes life more difficult.
Anyone here got the Dell 24" ultrasharp? If so what do you think of it? As I said originally it didnt look a patch on the BenQ when they were side by side, but possibly because it was literally straight out the box?

Which one? I've currently got a 2407WFP-HC A00, it's nice.

I'd rate it similarly to the BenQ FP241W (new revs, or at least ones with updated firmware), I considered both of them, but got the Dell because of the price.
