Hi gents....
I have been hunting for most of the last 3 months and am not up to speed on new computer hardware.Whats out there that I cant live without?.....Is the 8800 series gfx card still the King of the road?Thanks!

8800GTX's pretty much went out of style and the 8800GT replaced it (similar performance, costs less) then the 8800GTS evolved and I think it beats the GT. GTX's are still king but cost way too much.

best price to performance ratio cards are the g92 based 8800GT and the slightly newer 8800GTS 512MB cards.

the GTXs and Ultras are still king of the hill, but as you said they cost WAY too much. on an added note, the new 512MB 8800GTS card actually stays on par to the 8800 Ultra up until you hit resolutions of 1920x1200 or higher. that's according to the benchmarks i've seen on various different websites at least.
