Both drives are FAT32 and i want to make them NTFS.

Also what is the best way to convert these drives.

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

there is always the risk of corruption with anything you do even as simple as opening a word document

now which operating system are you running as some operating systems dont even support ntfs?

Here's an article at MS on how to convert your drives to the NTFS file system. It will tell the good, the bad and the ugly of doing it.

Hope that helps ya!

its pretty simple for the conversion part

just type in Convert X: /FS:NTFS with X being the drive you want to convert

I advise against powering off the computer during the conversion process

Apart from that (power outages, surges, children tripping over the power cable) the process is pretty much safe. I've done it maybe a hundred times and no errors occured.

Yeah but the MBR becaomes Fragmented, if you want to keep it in a contigous file its more work then that, basically gives you a little performance increase, wish I knew where that guide was on how to do it, and I don't remeber anymore. You might want to look into it, I'm sure it isn't that hard to find

i personally recommend getting executive softwares diskeeper program

it is the company that makes the one that comes in xp but it has many more features and will allow you to do boot time defragmentation of the entire drive not just the data areas so it will take care of any issues that may come up with drive access speeds

Diskeeper rocks! It's a must have, I install it every time and the system behaves much better when benefiting from its powerful options...
