lol, i tried that w/her current machine. it didn't work out because it's just stuffed under the desk and the side w/all the LEDs are facing towards the desk's side frame so it's blocked off. this is much more elegant IMO

the PSU is ok IMO. there was a thermaltake 430w, but the weight test between the allied and the thermaltake just said that the allied is a better quality PSU

yep, it was definately an upgrade for her. she's really pleased with it compared to her last machine.

AthlonXP 2400+
768MB DDR333
ECS MoBo via 133 chipset
ATI Radeon 8500 128MB
WD 40GB HDD

so yea....it was quite a big upgrade for her.

why the missing slot cover above the vid card?

last thing you need is mice in the computer (trust me, not pleasant or cheap to clean up)

I've done the same thing on like the last 2 systems i installed a graphics card in, takes some getting used to with the x16 lane on the second cover don't it?

i've come across this myself as well several times. and not just on pci-e boards, but also AGP boards. usually though, most of the cases i buy have the detachable pci slot covers that can be screwed back on. this cooler master elite case, you have to remove the pci slot covers by bending them off.

I need to hook up my old monitor so I can tollerate running 3dmark etc on my system. My TV can't handle the resolutions it wants, so it just sits on a black screen for 12 minutes, and I can't handle that :P

going ghetto is not an option, lol. i might be doing a case swap somewhat soonish anyways. and i think i might have an extra pci slot cover around somewhere. if not, i'll just go to my old work and they'll hook me up.
