Celeron or Athlon Xp

What should I get, the highest celeron which is like 2.6 I think or Athlon Xp 2500+?

Which will give me better perfomance in games? Apps will work well with over 2 ghz so thats not a problem.

Athlon!!!!

The celeron has really turned into a piece-o-sh!t CPU after the Tulatin PIII series, the P4 based ones are just too horribly crippled. Like Cartman said, get the AthlonXP...it really is a no-brainer decision.

Athlon XP is a much more efficient processor, even than the P4, nevermind the Celeron.

Yes, you should get a 1700B JIUHB.... Or a 2100B AIUHB.... Both overclock like mad... My 1700B is at 2400mhz (equivalent to XP3000 right now with just 1.725v (not much voltage at all)

What is your budget and are you looking to overclock it? Also are what other componets will you have in your rig? Just trying to get some more info to better answer your question as to which athlon to get.

My budget is around 600 dollors. I am going to get an asus motherboard with nforce2 (some1 suggested 3, but I see no need to go so high-tech) and I am going to get 9700 pro or 9800 pro (not sure which, still trying to decide. If I go to 9800 pro my budget can be increased.)

Don't forget to get some really good ram- corsair or mushkin- or there are others- just don't forget to get the best ram you can- you will be happy you did later on down the road when trying to push your system.

Oh, and Celeron? That is a funny question to begin with, Celerons are garbage.

Absolutely the Athlon. A real P4 might be arguably better, but with a celeron there's no contest.

I disagree - don't buy a celeron no matter what- under any circumstances! No matter what you want to do with it.
