Acer X263WBI 25.5" vs Hanns.G HG281DPB 28"
I'm having a complete utter bitch of a time trying to find specific details on acer model..... review or something, no some user submitted reviews, but at least something and all i get is a boat load of sites selling the sucker...
while i've come across only a few of the hanns.G monitor reviews, i find them very very poorly done.. check the normal sites but couldn't find anything specific.. Was trying to find out the manufacturer of the lcd screens themselves, the type of lcd they are, the very specifics of them. I'm guessing the acer model is a samsung display, but some of the specs listed on the websites between the 25.5 samsung model and the acer model don't completely agree. It's bloody confusing. I can't tell, but i'm hoping the acer model works on the same basic system as the hanns.G model, where there is a hdmi/vga input, BUT, both can use vga to component adapters, so that a HD set top box could potentially be plugged in with no issues. at the same time as the a computer... via a dvi-hdmi adapter. ATM, the 28" display is all nice and dandy, but i've seen it first hand.... i'm not sure if the display is worthy..... i didn't find the colors all that great. And 25.5" acer however i've never seen at all. Anyone able to dig up and specifics on these displays?

Re: Acer X263WBI 25.5" vs Hanns.G HG281DPB 28"
Hi all
I know this is a old thread, but it came up in a google search for a review on the Acer X263Wbi. I registered here because it looks to be a very good site for information and 'keeping up' with what's on the market. Anyway, I thought I would bump the OP's thread in hopes someone sees it that has used the Acer, or knows of a fairly good review on it. I was comparing the same two as the OP, but have since lost interest in the HannsG. User reviews (newegg) in the last couple months do not sound very good, so I am seriously considering the Acer or even some other 26" in it's price range. I would welcome opinions of the Acer and suggestions of other brands I can check into. I have never owned a LCD monitor and don't really know what I should be looking for when it comes to specs. Well other than the basics, like response time and contrast. And I know the monitor needs to run at it's native resolution, for best results. My main use for it will be gaming (race/flight simulations and shooters). Thank you for any help and tips. Bye for now. |

Re: Acer X263WBI 25.5" vs Hanns.G HG281DPB 28"
don't bother with the hanns G model i picked it up and almost threw up after using it less then an week and took it back.... imo waist of money.... worse then the elcheapo 15" philips monitors i've seen.
The Acer isn't bad however.. fairly good appearance..... but i've seen seen the Viewsonic 27.5"... and i must say it's promising. BUT, i've since moved from getting those screens to basically stating "if you want something bigger then 24".... don't bother going cheap..... save your pennies and get a good 32" LCD HDTV that is 1080p (1920x1080)." A damn good 32" is the Samsung LN32A650 the price of which may depend where you are.. but it's pretty reasonable for the amazing quality.. plus the extra features it includes.

Re: Acer X263WBI 25.5" vs Hanns.G HG281DPB 28"
Hi
Thanks for the tips. I will see what I can find on the Viewsonic. I don't have the option for anything bigger than a 28", as they will not fit on my desk. I have one of those corner type desk and the space between the shelves is good for a 26 or 28" tops. Actually a 26" is a better fit, as a 28 would have to be set back a bit to clear the ends of the shelves. I have plans for a 42" HDTV for my TV cabinet (the largest that will properly fit it), but I want a monitor first. I don't watch a great deal of TV, so it can wait. Thanks again and if anyone else is using monitors in the size range I am looking at, please give me your opinions.

I have the Hanns G 281D and it has great colors, awesome picture, good contrast and response time. If i could only get it to stop flickering to a black screen I'd be all set. I recommend the Acer or a KDS 26.5inch. we sell KDS at workd and I've only seen one come back.

Thanks for the help guys.
I just bought the Acer. I didn't see anything really negative said about it, so I think it is probably a good deal.

Re: Acer X263WBI 25.5" vs Hanns.G HG281DPB 28"
Hi again
My Acer is fantastic. No dead pixels and the image is beautiful. The games I play run fine at 1920X1200. I had some concerns about that, thinking I may have to run then in a lower resolution, but that isn't the case. I did test them all with my 19" crt, just see how they worked before I decided to buy a large lcd. They ran fine with it, just looked odd due to the aspect. Anyway, once I saw they also run good at that res with the new monitor, I was finally totally at ease. I can't find a single thing to complain about. Well maybe that the legs of the stand stick out a good bit past the front of the monitor, but I think about all lcd stands do this. And that really isn't a problem, just the one thing I would like to be different. I got a real deal on this thing too at ebay. Brand new in the box, $395.00 total. I'm very pleased. Thanks again for the input. I did value your words and it did have a strong bearing on my decision to go with the Acer.
