XP2700+ or XP2800+

Does anyone have any benchmarks comparing these two? It would be interesting to see when the extra cache of the 2800 Barton outdoes the extra clock speed of the 2700.

I have a hunch that the 2700 would perform better even though it costs a fair amount less.

it depends on the application bartons help with 3D apps but anything needing raw mhz will like that 2700, theres more then a few articles on the net about it, just look for a Barton review and if its any good will compare it to the standard Athlon

From what I've personally seen so far as the Barton core goes there is only 3% (if that) improvement over it's clocked Tbred counter-part. If the Bartons had the SSE2 like originally planned then it would be faster, since it doesn't go for the 2700.

I'd recommend you rather get a 2600+ (w/ 333MHz FSB). It's a good bit cheaper than 2700+ and 2800+, and the difference is only quite minimal - definitely not worth the additional money.

Here's an article from Tom's Hardware, they compared many CPU's, including:
Athlon XP (Barton) 3000+ (2166 MHz 128/512 KB)
Athlon XP 2800+ (2250 MHz 128/256 KB)
Athlon XP (Barton) 2800+ (2083 MHz 128/512 KB)
Athlon XP 2700+ (2166 MHz 128/256 KB)
Athlon XP (Barton) 2500+ (1833 MHz 128/512 KB)
. . . and several other Thoroughbreds and some Pentium 4's
