64-bit version of Vista is must when going over 4Gb RAM!
Why two DVD drives?? Get rid of the other and get 2nd hdd so you can put them in RAID

Nice build. I'd suggest getting 64-bit vista as well. In addition to the RAM support, it's a bit more futureproof.

ok, heres what you do:

get rid of the retail copy of vista home premium, get an OEM copy of vista home premium

you just saved 200 bucks

get rid of the antec 900 and go for a cooler master 690 or centurion 590 chassis, both run circles around the 900

you just saved something like 60 bucks

get rid of the Seagate ES.2 drive and go for a basic 7200.11, youve already got like 20 bucks off

and just get rid of the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer, its junk, dont even think its has a real X-Fi chip on it....

you saved 100 bucks

so what do you do with the extra 380 bucks? heres what, convert all your components to DDR3 and ride on with massive power

While I hate to 'pimp' another site. And especially the one I'm gonna link to because I don't like their crappy attitude about how they do video card reviews, there is a very nice thread on their forums dedicated to the CM690. It shows some really great wire management, and is worth taking a look at.

PC_Inquisitor has a spectacular aura aboutPC_Inquisitor has a spectacular aura about

Nice... But I suggest you an 790i MOBO... Better overclock, better for the Nvidia 9 series... DDR3, and, of course full support for the Penryn CPU...
As well, why not to buy one 45 nm Intel chip?? Kenstsfield family isn't the best option now...

the centurion 590 is pretty much the successor to the 690 and has even MORE fan slots, but looks a bit different.

I have to disagree. Get the ES.2. People complain that the Enterprise drives are the same as the non Enterprise drives, and that they are just paying more money for a drive that has an E in its name. This isn't necessarily true. While most of the components are the same there is something other than components to look at here. Failure rate. Call up Intel, and ask them to tell you about the failure rate numbers they've been keeping track of. These are the failure rates of specific hard drives on their controllers which they've been tracking for a long time now, and the numbers cover every single drive on the market running on their boards. In this case, the failure rate of non Enterprise drives (on an Intel controller) versus an ES drive (on the same controller) is nearly 5 to 1. That's 5 non ES drive failures for every 1 ES drive.

As for the Xtreme Gamer, the chip is a real X-Fi chip. The one you need to stay away from is the Xtreme Audio as it's mostly driven by software.

I just remember that I wont need a soundcard. Ill buy a cheap Audigy SE because I use a Steelpad(Icemat) USB Soundcard. Its the best for me since Im a lan gamer mostly.
