Ricoh Printer Error Codes - Help!

On the off hand chance that someone on the site knows about Ricoh printer error codes I figured I had nothing to lose by asking. So, here it goes.

I have a client who has the Aficio SP C811DN color laser printer (incidentally, so do I, but without all the options that the printer in the picture in that link has... gawd damn I love this printer), and has been getting an error code pop up the last couple days. He can still print, but he continually gets an SC580 error code. I'm wondering if any of you guys know what this error might be, cuz for the life of me I can't find one shred of info on it.

You see, Ricoh, those buggers, guard their error codes as if they were pages out of the original bible, so it's really tough to find out what's what. Why? Because they make money off of clients when they have to call to find out what the error is. They won't even tell you until you book an appointment for one of their techs to come see you, which will cost you $150-200, and only then will they tell you what the error is. Drives me nuts. Now, I do have an older reference guide dating back a couple years, so I can look most of the codes up, however since it's not current it's missing this particular one. The more I look at the old reference manual, the more I'm inclined to think it has to do with the fuser (closest one on the list is SP590 which is the fusing fan motor).

Anyways, if any of you guys and gals happen to know what this error code references, please, please let me know.

Thanks.

Tip.

Well.. I figure I stumped you guys for a second time in as many months. Oh well. In any case I got it sorted by begging and pleading with Ricoh.

SC580 - IH inverter zero cross frequency error

If I'm right this has to do with the toner fusing unit, and the way it does the fusing of the toner.. probably by heat induction. I remember a paper from way back talking about an IH (Induction Heating) method for laser printers that would allow them to be very energy efficient, and have a short warm up time.

Oh well.. still means the client has to call up Ricoh for service.

Thanks anyways guys.

Mods can close this thread up whenever they get bored, and need something to do.
