USB 2.0 Problem

My motherboard is ASUS P4VP-MX and it supports USB 2.0. When I insert an USB Drive, a message saying 'This device could perform faster if you connect it to a HI-SPEED USB 2.0 port' pops up.

In the manual it says that 'The USB 2.0 Modules should be purchased separately'. I tried installing the driver provided in the Motherboard CD, but it didn't work. It takes too long to copy something from PC to USB drive.

Is there a way to make my USB ports work as fast as USB2.0?

The rear panel should have 4 USB 2.0 ports, I've looked that from Asus's site. So do you have newest chipset drivers installed??

You can try the following:

- go to bios option "usb 2.0 controller mode" and set the setting to "HiSpeed" = 480Mbps; (default was FullSpeed=12Mbps);
- try installing the latest Hyperion Pro for the Via chipset based motherboard; or install the VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Drivers V2.56 for Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP. Here's the link for it: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

Good luck!

Since I had already tried installing the drivers you suggested, I went directly to the BIOS. USB 2.0 Controller was disabled and I enabled it =] I can finally copy more than 100 MB in less than a minute. Thank you very very much for helping me =]
