FAT32 + NTFS on same disk

Is it wise/safe to have an external enclosured drive of 80gb (2.5") with a 32gb FAT32 and a 43gb NTFS partition on it?

Why ever would you want to use FAT32? The only reason to use it is to get old software running properly.

But if you really want to having FAT32 and NTFS on a single HDD partitioned will not affect it in any way.

only reason why is because I got myself a nice little dvd player with a usb slot for my tv... but the USB can only read in FAT32 or lower
Either I do this or I get myself a 16/32gb usb key but I already have a spare 80gb Scorpio so why not

Thanks I was hoping nothing would affect having 2 different formats on the same disk !

I have a 500GB seagate that is devided in a few partitions, one of which is a FAT32 one. No problems, but bare in mind if you need to copy files to that partition, that it can't hold as much as a NTFS partition.

4GB is max file size for FAT32...so if its that size or larger and you need it on FAT32 from your NTFS partition, its not going to work.

I won't be copying any files smaller than 170mb really... mostly tv shows or movies (so max 700mb a file)
Sounds like a solid solution instead of spending cash on a bigger USB key ... now I just need a USB/Power cable that plugs in the AC plug on the wall
