Irql_not_less_or_equal
I'm getting BSOD's a bit infrequently. It's happened 3 times over the last 3 weeks.
The only real info I get is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL I've searched around and I've found about 10 different explanations.. all different. Everything from memory problem to having a Logitech mouse. Seems they started after I upgraded my memory but I've ran memtest for an extensive period of time and no errors have been found so I'm at a loss. I'm not even sure if it's a hardware problem but I'd guess that it is. Hence I'm asking here if anyone might have an idea where I should start to try and fix this. It's not a big problem since it happens maybe once a week and everything works just perfectly otherwise. It's a bit annoying though and I'm afraid it might get worse with time. You can see my hardware on the side. Only add a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic and a Samsung SyncMaster 2032BW to that. |

If you try your old memory sticks, and get no BSOD's anymore. Then there is almost no other conclusion then the new memory is causing the problem?

Run Memtest 86+, and test your ram and see if it errors. I am guessing one of your sticks is dead.

I have run memtest86, I said that in my initial post, for an extensive period and no errors were found.
But I will still try and put the old mems back and see if the problem goes away. Might just be a bad combination with 1066MHz mems for an 800MHz CPU even the memory is clocked at 800. Stranger things have happened with computers so.. ![]() It might just be the newest ATI drivers as well.. when thinking about it I can't recall having this BSOD before I installed 8.4. I'll continue to try and find the reason. Might have to do a complete re-install as well. However, I suspect myself that it's the Creative X-Fi Music that's the real cause... nothing has ever worked well with it since I got it, not in this or the old computer.. and the drivers are, if I put it kindly, pure crap. |

It was the mems. Changed back to my old DDR2-800 and now it's rock solid. Strange really, I suppose my cpu and those corsairs aren't quite compatible. Still, I did run memtest for 24 hours without errors... so I'm at a loss to why the old ones work and those didn't.
