I see at site of my local shop that cheapest Phenom 8450 x3 is for like 15 euro more expensive than this Athlon 5600+... but phenoms are for AM2+... would I have to search for motherboard for am2+ and if I would run x3 on this gigabyte would i feel much loose of power?

thats a very good question. I don't really know how much loss you would experience. The difference between the AM2 and Am2+ boards is simple.....The AM2 + boards had a faster hyper transport bus speed so like i said im not really sure. I do know that most likely with the current baord you have in the list you would want to update the BIOS as soon as you got it out of the box to make sure that the Phenom would work properly. As far as a performance hit goes im really not too sure. Especially with these since they are brand new.

Well I've been looking at mobos for AM2+ and I've found Abit AN-68SD 11 euro more expensive than this gigabyte but that would make like 26 euro more and I don't know would I manage that much (I know I know... too low budget but what can I do when I'm just a 16 years old kid and don't have any incomes?) :/
ps. EUR - USD exchange rate is about 1,5459. so that makes about $686.72 for me to spend... edit. even if I would go with that x2 processor would it be good set for gaming? i've heard that old 9600GTs have problem with black screens crash... anybody knows how it is with newer cards? |

true true i know where you are coming from on that. I say if you stick with the system you have in your original post its nice. Very similar to the system i have in my specs right now. My system does pretty well with all the lastest games and it should provide you with a decent gaming rig for a nice price

My friend is currently running a 9600 GT 512 mb from BFG and has had no BSoD's after using it for about 6 months. He is running it with vista 64 home premium, playing games ranging from Sins of a Solar Empire, Oblivion, Crysis. No aparent issues as of yet. He hasn't had any artifacts or degraded gameplay or strange blank screens or lockups. He originally had this in a system which was similar to your own only he was using an asus board and corsair ram.
It's performance is good for what you pay and the amount of stream proc's it has. I have seen the threads about the 9600 GT but personally have not seen them manifest in my friends card or system. (I use an 8800 GT). Hope that helps a bit.

You should be able to run it with no real problems. My friends system which is again pretty similar to your own runs it and games fine. If you can upgrade to 4g of ram in the future that would certainly help, but you shouldnt have major issues using Vista.

you are quite welcome. yeah my system that i have currently runs Vista fine. I soon will be making the switch on that rig to vista home permium x64 fairly soon here. Also, my graphics card is a little inferior to the one in your build so you should have no problems what so ever ![]() but i have to agree that upgrading to 4GB of RAM in the future is definitely a good idea
