bought processor, need help planning

i just bought a core2 quad q9450 for 271 which includes a POS mother board imma ebay. its a ECS gf7050vt-m mobo. it says big on the box: "supporrs Intel Core 2 Duo CPU" does that mean my quad wont run on it? and up to 2gb of ddr2 667. i want 800. i haven't built a computer in years, so i wanna ask before i try.

i have an old computer case: Antec soho which is pretty big and roomy, and a 410w power supply. but the power supply is old. i notice the mobo i recently bought mentions support for SATA, does the power supply need to be SATA supportive or w/e too? will i be needing a new PSU?

I am planning on building a computer that will last a while and could manage to play newer games like starcraft 2 and D3 at above average settings. time isn't much of an issue to me right now (though my current computer has problems and crashes every 15-40 minutes or so). im wondering what some suggestions might be on builds and price. i need a mobo, ram, vid card, possibly PSU? i dont think im missing anything, but i dont know. already have sound card (audigy 2zs), ram i can wait for a 20 dollar deal for 2gb. my bro just bought a nvidia 8600gs for 70, i can wait and hope for another deal like that to come. after ebaying that mobo i just bought, the price of the processor should be around 250. so thats 340 still needing a mobo and maybe PSU...

It appears to support that CPU and RAM as well, but you may have to update the BIOS.
Here's the manufacturers data:

ECS Web Site

I'd look for a new PSU to be on the safe side if it's that old, even if the one you have could concievably work with a not too demanding graphics card.

it says (oc to 800) does that mean i have to buy 667 and then oc them to 800? id rather just get 800 i think.

i just remembered that i dont have a SATA hard drive. is everything these days SATA only? or is there some kinda adapter cable thing i can use to plug my old hard drive to the SATA cables?

dam...you know, im starting to have some buyers remorse or whatever. haha. 250 for a processor is ALOT!!! x.x newegg has it for 330 so thats a 80 dollars saving only...

Buying regular PC6400(800) RAM will be fine. They say overclock since no CPU yet requires the corresponding bus clock.

If you're thinking about the motherboards single IDE connector then you could use it for two drives and pick up some cheap SATA CD/DVD unit, as there are plenty out today. While there are converters for connecting an IDE/PATA drive to a SATA data cable they were a bit expensive last I looked. Could be an option if you need to add just another IDE drive.

i just bought this last night online to go with e Q9450: GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P

here is a link to it at newegg: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Dynamic Energy Saver Ultra Durable II Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

why does it say deactivated product? its not a bad thing is it? or is that just another word for discontinued? i hate reading the reviews at newegg. it seems theres always some discouraging bad reviews, but I've never seen my brother or cousin get a bad one before and neither have I. would like to know if someone has one of these

That is good and solid IP35 chipset mobo. It will work nicely with your quad core.

btw. I removed the size parameter from your post since the text was rather small...
