intel q9450 batches

i have 2 intel Q9450 quad cores. one of them was made in a batch 5/xx/08 and the other 6/xx/08. should i keep the more recent one or the earlier one? does it matter at all?

also, i read the instructions on how to install them...they are different from P4s and older processors? theres no pins now on the bottom? the instructions say not to touch the bottom of the processor or the top of the CPU socket on the mobo. sounds like i have to be pretty careful...is it really that bad if i accidently touch either one of those just slightly? the instrucitons were from the mobo i bought and it also said somethng about applying the heatsink paste. do i have to do that myself or does the CPU have it on it already? I bought the CPU retail which includes heatsink and fan. I haven't opened the processor yet so im wondering...

Check for stuck sensors using HWMonitor and keep the better one ;)

crap...more things i didn't know about...

how will i know if the sensor is stuck? im guessing the sensor is something in the processor that reads the temperature of each core? if its stuck and i use that program in the link im assuming the reading would be stuck at a certain number?

how bad of a problem is this? If i were to overclock my q9450, whats the highest the temperature can be without it having problems?

i have the computer up and running. according to CPUID the cores aren't stuck...the numbers move around. I had some trouble getting the heatsink on the CPU though, the new sockets or w/e on it are hard to put in. I'm afraid I might not have done it correctly or something. To test to see if the numbers would move, I played a game. while the game was playing, the numbers jumped up. cores 1 and 3 reached up to 74 and 73 C. isn't that kind of high? core 2 and 4 went to 66 C.

Did you properly apply thermal paste to your processor? It seemed like you werent really sure about that part of the step.

It's a bit higher than you might 'normally' see for a stock cpu/cooler, while not great not deadly, yet.

Cooling with a "Scythe Mugen":
48-50°C idle
58-60°C full stressed with Cinema4D bench

so does that mean my temperatures are fine? I am using the stock hsf, so im assuming because the stock hsf is not as efficient as the more expensive ones bought seperately for gaming my system would be a bit warmer?
