Which type of memory to get for a new computer

Thinking about building up a new computer in the next few months and going with the E8500 Wolfdale cpu and the xfx 280 video card but not sure about the motherboard and memory combos. I am leaning towards DDR3 but it is had to pass up how cheap DDR2 is and how much you can get. I've tried to do a little research and from what I can tell you need to get DDR3 1600 to be 'better' then the DDR2 800 top line stuff. Spending money isn't a big deal, but would rather not throw it away on performance increases that only are marginal. Any comments or ideas would be great.

Get some good DDR2 kit 2x2Gb like this : Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

There isn't much performance gains in DDR3 over DDR2 and I haven't seen SLI board with DDR3 support. I assume you are going to get SLI board for that card.

Anything from reputable companies such as Corsair, GSkill, OCZ etc etc. I advise to get a 2x2GB kit (4GB) PC2-6400 as they selling at such crazy prices right now and work well for Vista, gaming etc.

I particular like the GSKILL kits listed on this page. The link is from a company based in Ireland so go to an on-line retailer in your country to get best prices.

Edit: In fact, if you are looking for USD prices then Newegg list the same range on this page at far better prices lol

Yep, was looking to get a SLI board but will wait on getting the second card for a little while after a price drop or so. And I'm thinking I'll just stay with DDR2 for now, will probably be a while still before it makes a big difference. Thanks for the help guys.
