Re: Building a new computer system and not sure where to start? Click Here! (6/23/09)

well, I'll have to see how i get it( partially that what determines what i get), probably ask a friend to get it from uk or the states, coz here, the prices are about the same.... and i dont think i'll be getting warranty that easily here.....

would love to see this updated with the new i5 and i7 cores.
Anyway, very good job Kris and nice of you to spend so much time to make an easy guide for the hazardous road of computer hardware!

COOLER MASTER 700W Silent Pro Active Modular PSU on eBay (end time 12-Oct-09 20:22:43 BST)

I'd got for a Corsair PSU, I think you can get an 850W on that budget which should be plenty.

grab one of these

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910W Power Supply [] Power Supplies PC Power & Cooling

Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-850HXUK) [CMPSU-850HXUK] Power Supplies Corsair

theyre a bit over 120 though but their quality is top notch

theyre all coolermaster and thermaltake.... coolermaster i believe has a bit of a ripple problem on their new silent pro line and thermaltake is decent... but expensive for nothing over their competitors.......

try this one:

Corsair TX 850W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-850TXUK) [CMPSU-850TXUK] Power Supplies Corsair

Re: Building a new computer system and not sure where to start? Click Here! (9/4/09)

Hi,

I orginaly got help on page 2 of this thread and so far my system listed below with asus m3n72-d is working good. But since I went to windows 7 64 bit home edition it tends to freeze up from time to time for short times.

I am thinking that if I go from 4gigs of memory to 8 that might help fix this situation. Am I going in the right direction? If so could you help me pick out some decent memory for this mother board that wont break the bank.

thanks

hey man, sorry i couldnt reply to this before.... 4 gigs should be sufficient for just about everything.... it sounds like a software issue....

did you install windows 7 directly from the disk or did you upgrade? i recommend reformatting and getting everything setup before buying new RAM...

also, id download the motherboard drivers from the Asus website for win 7 as they may be newer than the ones loaded onto the disk....

if you need anything else, just post back

Turned out to be my hard drive, it was dieing and I have since replaced it. Since then everything is running smooth as silk. I did add a hard drive fan cooler for the new Hard drive and the old one showed signs that it was running to hot.

My Asus Republic of Gamers RAMPAGE II EXTREME motherboard arrived yesterday! It looked so good when I took it out! Ihaven't any photos yet, but if you check my specs <- ) You will see what my new system when it's built is going to be (roughly).

You can try the Asus page for this motherborard: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards - ASUS P7H55-M/USB3

See the "CPU Support List" tab(for a list of supported CPUs), and the "Memory/Device Support" tab for a list of RAM vendors that are compatible (Qualified Vendor List) with the mobo.

As for graphics, all PCIe cards should be compatible.
