Any PC case like this?
Small, but able to fit inside 1 optical drive, 2 3.5" HDDs, and a modern latest graphics card like the AMD 4870x2 or GT280 etc.
Without catching fire.

Basicaly think of a PC case that is light and easy to carry around, yet durable to not break if someone touches it.

Looks like cable management isn't going to be easy, but then it IS a small case, so that's to be expected.

the 541 is like a mini centruion 590.....

it's not bad for the small factor..

but it would be nice for something even smaller like what was orginally requested..

i've just not found one yet that i find that is good enough.

Perhaps a, forget the name, "desktop"? case would work better. I don't know if it is just me, but today all PC cases for normal size mainboards look huge.

Hmm, the extreme temperatures by the 4870x2 would not be a great thing in a small case even if I could find one.
Perhaps I should just abandon all hope, I doubt a certain mechanic from the future will arrive to help me build a PC case that is both thin, light and very durable.

So another question is, is it possible to have a PC case with extra holding straps or something, so that when the PC is send by post to another country it has less risk of everything inside getting out of their slots? And by everything I mean the graphics card and the heatsing/fan of the CPU

Check out the antec lan boy case. Not supper small but light and easy to travel if that is the goal. It is big enough to have drive space and cools quite well.

Be careful with all those smaller cases. I thought that a GMC R series case would be nice as they are pretty small, but they won't ever fit a card as long as these. And they don't have the HDD tray in front of the motherboard at all. I am almost certain than none of these small cases will fit a card as long as the ones you mentioned.

Well, if there was a well cooled case with as small dimensions and weight as possible, that wasn't made out of paper, and could fit a regular atx mainboard with something as large as a single 4870x, at least 1 optical drive and a couple of HDDs, I would gladly pay double the normal asking price.

a normal sized atx?

imo you might be asking a bit much as i've seen typical ATX motherboard barely give any breathing room in some of the prebuilt systems i've dealt with... and heat was always a problem.. course they were built really strangely.


Consideirng it's media use.. would you have any quarms about a case that lays horizontally?

I'm currently looking around and allot of the ones that actually make some form of sense are built this way.

The best "design" yet is with a single optical drive dead center of the front part of the case near the top..

and then 2 horizontally mounted drives on either side (4 tops) plus the use of 120mm fans on either side in front of the drive bays (HDs)... the PSU mounted in a manner that mounts blast the heat out the side as well...

i'm going to do a little bit more research though.... i think that case was miniatx though. There might be one that allows for a full atx

That sounds good to me, if it can use ATX ones.

The only thing so far that approaches a smaller size that perhaps can also fit huge graphics cards is this
