2*1gb or 2gb ram

Hey guys i need a advice concerning my RAM.
Due to some technical issue I had to put both of my 1gb ram stick on a single channel instead of putting it on dual channel.
I can buy a 2gb ram stick to put on a single channel... what is the difference performence-wise ? ==> having a single 2gb ram stick or 2 1gb ram stick on the same channel.
By the way, the 1gb sticks are at 677 and the 2 gb is at 800
thnks!!

Re: 2*1gb or 2gb ram

what kind of motherboard is it?

there probably would be no performance difference at all if the motherboard only supports DDR2 667

honestly id get a new mobo just so i can have dual-channel back since you chop your bandwidth in half essentially

Re: 2*1gb or 2gb ram

there would be no performance difference between 2x1GB in single channel mode vs. a single 2GB stick of RAM.

Re: 2*1gb or 2gb ram

you'll see a minor increase in performance with the 800Mhz stick, but nothing that'll make you be like, "whoa!"
