Lost your hardware driver ? come on

How many times you get your hardware cd driver broken or lost.You searched on the manufacturing company site and the you found nothing about your hardware.
Trying to wade through thousands of fake sites that allege they have all the hardware drivers in the world.

And awway from that how many times you eject cd and put another one in the cd-rom to complete installing your hardware drivers after a clean installation of windows

but don't sleep . I found this great torrent and tried it and I installed all my drivers from it . it never let me down but one time when I did't found my friends modem driver on it.
I did't try it on vista but xp only.

waste since you cant pick separate packs to dload & have to get it all

& it will be out of date fast

really dont like any p2p/home user 'packs'

It is realy more useful if you want to install drivers for all your hardware in your rig then you don't have to put cd 99 times and the mantainance centers having it as necessary.

well, you can get the newest drivers from the chip makers anyway and some ISP's are blocking P2P networks so I don't see the point to having that one big pack of drivers... And they take a bit too much of space. All the drivers that I need takes around 150 Mb's of HDD space on my 2nd drive and I usually download the newest drivers to there

dont worry, this isnt illegal as the files are already free throughout the internet

and i guess for temeteus, i think this is for those who have no way of finding their drivers

This is an invaluable disc (I mentioned this in another thread, btw). This and the 25,000 Windows Drivers CD.

Think about all the people that lose their discs, or in my business, never bring their system discs with them when they need to reinstall their OS? I know, I know, you can always go and download the latest drivers, or can you? What if you reinstall your OS and neither the Ethernet or wireless NIC work? How do you download the drivers then? What if you are switching from Vista to XP, and can't find the XP drivers, anywhere? That's where these types of discs come in handy. Both are ISO images, and all you do is burn them to CD, or in this case, DVD. Can't find a driver? Just plop the disc in, and let Windows search for it. At the very least it will get the computer up and running to a point that you can go find the latest drivers. Is that not worth having a disc like this?

And as I said, in my business, this type of disc is invaluable. There is no way I am wasting my time downloading drivers for a clients machine. Some sites are so slow that it can take an hour or more, or I have to go searching other sites for drivers to the same device. Some sites, such as in the case of Sony, have such restrictions as to make it impossible for anyone outside of a Sony laptop/computer owner to get any type of support from their site. And there is no way in hell I'm keeping a stash of discs for every motherboard, network card, video card, sound card, modem or whatever comes through my door. All I have to do is plop this disc in, and I'm done in minutes rather than hours.

i agree with Tipstaff, there are some rigs out there that are outdated or too old to get the drivers on the net (some of the manufacturers have given up on updating the drivers for their products), so this CD (DVD) does come in handy...

suppose you have an old PIII or PII rig and want to instal XP on it... most of the drivers back in those days where Win95, WIn98 and Win2000 compatible. i know that most of the drivers that are Win2000 compatible are also XP (32 bit) compatible, but some of them aren't... so what do you do in this case... you don't have the original motherboard / graphic card / audio card driver CD, the OS doesn't recognize the hardware you have installed and (even if the the LAN driver works...) there are no compatible drivers to be found anywhere on the net... in that case, this kind of CD is a lifesaver...

even if the driver that the OS recognizes as a compatible one (from this CD/DVD) isn't an official driver by the manufacturer, different manufacturers use same chips for some of their products, so if the driver works... leave it be...

one more question though... does a simple google search gives the link to the "25.000 Windows Drivers" CD/DVD?

Yep. Both are available on non-P2P sites, it's just a matter of looking (got mine a month before it ever hit P2P). Look for "25,000 Windows Drivers CD" and "100,000 Universal Windows Drivers" (also listed as "100,000 Windows Drivers"). The latter one was last updated as of Sept.08.
