CoolerMaster UCP 900W from DriverHeaven
PART 1:
Hello everybody! Today I finally have some time on my hand to write this little "review" about the CoolerMaster UCP 900W which I won here on DriverHeaven! (As always, THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH for everything =D ) First of all I want to apologize for not writing this "article" before today. I recieved the power supply last weekend or something, but I had to much work to write a solid text about it Notice that I will include everything that I think was positive and negative with this PSU, eventhough I have nothing to complain about because I was lucky enough to win it, and I appreciate that! Remember that I don't have much wisdom on this topic, so don't expect any great "subject mere words" or anything. I just write what I think :P ![]() So, I finally received the UCP 900 from CoolerMaster! Eventhough it took about 5-6 weeks from I won it, it's now lying on my table, ready to be used The shipment came nicely protected, so it didn't had any visible damages. I don't know the english word, but the picture of the PSU was "sticking out" of the box! :P This improved the overall quality feeling. ![]() Here are the specifications on the back (you probably don't see much because of the great image quality): ![]() Atleast you can see that it's "Made in China" :P Hehe, one thing to point out though is that it has a 80+ silver efficiency! Taken into cosideration that this is a 900W power supply (!), it's a lot more environment-friendly than many other brands and PSUs today. Well, let's unwrap this monster, shall we? ![]() ![]() As you can see, the package-work is wonderful! This high-powered PSU sees norwegian light for the first time, and can flex its muscles after some time with assembling and installation!! The pack included the PSU with cables, the manual on paper and on CD, some screws and a warranty card. ![]() Beautiful, isn't it? ![]() Look at the "house" it's built inside. If you could be here and actually feel those shiny, metal-like "walls", you would IMIDIETLY know that this was a quality product. Continue to part 2 ->

CoolerMaster UCP 900W - Part 2
PART 2:
After the worst happiness was over, I could finally keep installing the CoolerMaster Ultimate 900W. I decided to replace my old, modular (cable management) Thermaltake Toughpower 750W which has served me since the early days of 2007. Now I have 150W extra, so there will not be any power issues when starting my PC! In addition, I will have great plans next time I'll upgrade my system ![]() ![]() ![]() The only downsides I can find from replacing my PSU is that my old one was modular, so it's a lot more cables with the new one. In addition, the old one had a bigger fan, but that doesn't matter. This is because I've read that the UCP 900W is actually cooler than the Toughpower! The new one probably has a better passive-cooling system ![]() Here is a picture of the cable guts before and after assorting them into what I will use and what I will tie up. ![]() Finally! I'm finished installing the UCP 900W, this is the before and after pictures of the inside of my PC (the picture might be a bit confusing): ![]() Now that I've installed the PSU correctly, there is one, rather great problem. The power sockets don't match Here are some pictures of the problemthat arrised: ![]() Fortunately, I had an obvious idea: Let's use a power adapter! And so it happend... ![]() Continue to part 3 ->

Re: CoolerMaster UCP 900W
PART 3:
Conclusion Positive: + GREAT efficiency with a maximum at 88.14 %! (environment-friendly) + Physically small, taken into consideration that it delivers 900W! + Very silent fan, and supposably a low temperature in addition. + Black cable "socks" ![]() + 5 years warranty for a guy like me in Norway. + In addition, we all might agree that it delivers enough power? ![]() Negative: - Not modular. ![]() - Small fan? - Wrong power cord (that one only counts for me).As you can see, this power supply gives a lot of advantages! If I was going to buy a PSU myself, this one would be taken into consideration ![]() But the funny thing is that I have never seen this PSU being sold in Norway! So I'm probably on of the few that owns one!!! ![]() In addition, I've experienced something strange. It's maybe just placebo, but it feels like my whole rig is more stable and less hot! :S My fans seem to move more air than usual, but that may because I cleaned my case when I replaced the PSU. But it's wierd anyway, because I clean my case quite often. Nevermind, you don't necesseraly need something to fix when you replace a piece of hardware! Hehe, you can always upgrade because you have plans for the future, or just wants more power ![]() Here is a last picture of my PC up and going (I kind of like to include a final picture ):![]() Again, I would REALLY like to thank DriverHeaven and CoolerMaster for feeding my PC! In the future it would have starved to death if I wanted to upgrade additional parts of my computer.
