Making The Jump To Intel Core i7
I'm planning to upgrade my computer sometime in the middle of December to the new Intel Core i7. Below are the parts I'm tentatively looking at.
Intel Core i7 940 2.93 GHz Asus Rampage II Extreme I've also been looking at this board also. EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 I've read the review here at Driverheaven about the i7 and the Rampage II Extreme and have found it very informative, but what would be the best kind of memory for me to go with. As some of you know I'm very ignorant when it comes to OCing a system. So what kind of memory would be a good fit for me. I've been trying to pick up the art of OCing and it just seems to allude me for reason. One other thing I'm aware of is about the heatsink for cooling, I just get whatever Thermalright comes up with for the i7 socket as I've always used them.

Re: Making The Jump To Intel Core i7
your components look good and as for the board, id get the EVGA board as it has the best warranty service.
for memory, id go with OCZ DDR3 1600 Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory from the DH review, there have been no issues with the voltage if i remember, but if youre not going to OC much id just lower the mhz and tighten the timings to keep voltage low for the CPU
