Re: Oil cooled computer

IMO, the most expensive thing in that kind of machine is the mineral oil.

but going through google, what kind of mineral oil would be used? there are so many different types of mineral oil products that can be purchased.

i would say "the elite tech consumers" ... not the enthusiasts... the enthusiasts (the guys that really know something about technology and the way it works) already know that that thing is overpriced, so if some of them want to actually buy it, they would wait for the prices to drop...

just my opinion...

Yeah right - or why would anyone ever buy a QX9775?

Re: Oil cooled computer

and like many of the things we see in sites that cater to enthusiasts and elite consumers, and tinkering souls that need a challenge, this computer fills a niche I think.
There is a great deal of interest in overclocking so this particuler machine meets that need. I believe that people that OC on the cheap wish they had a machine of similiar caliber that would meet their expectations. Surely this one would meet mine. Sure its not for everyone, but if you were reviewing one of these machines for the purpose of exposing weaknesses and flaws then it might be worth it to try to break one. I am saying that is superior to many beasts already on the table, albiet expensive.
But then that is the difference or similiarity between a VW Lupo and an Audi A6. Both get you there, just one is a hell of alot more fun.

Course you were pretty impressed with it initially.... and then things went sour from there on.

what else happened to the room you had it in.... everything go kind of saturated didnt' it?

Poor voodoo 2's in SLI didn't handle the ordeal.

well, in the end, i guess it all comes down to that... are we willing as consumers to spend that kind of money on something that in OCing terms is far superior than anything else on the market...?

i'll give you my answer right now... no.
