Re: Your favourite piece of hardware in 2008?

to follow Zardon and who_knows, i'd have to say my mac pro has been my favourite purchase for the year. This thing can take pretty much anything I throw at it, and just ask for more.

Re: Your favourite piece of hardware in 2008?

Well this year i have bought only my Logitech X-540 speakers and my Razer Lycosa keyboard.
I love them both! They are even better than i expected!
So as i have to choose one of them i will say Logitech X-540 as i got them in a great deal I will not go in details about these 5.1 speakers as there are many reviews about them and how much good they are!

I would like to buy a Mac Airbook! They perfectly fit my needs!

The only downside is I wished I'd bought an MSI sapphire wasnt available. Gecube aint bad at all though

I also bought a PNY 9600GT XLR OC a few weeks ago. At that moment it was the cheapest 9600GT for 80 euros (they are still 90 euros at least here, 6 weeks later).

It runs extremely cool @ 34 degrees Celsius and load is just 50 or so.

Performance is also quite well, only the bundle (you only got a few cables and a DVI > VGA adapter) was a bit small.

It's also a fine-looking card

Re: Your favourite piece of hardware in 2008?

My favourite piece (actually pieces) of hardware this year are the ATI Radeon HD4000 Series (although I don't own any). They range from budget, mainstream to enthusiast, so there's something for everyone, and offer good performance and value for money at all levels. I've really liked seeing ATI come out on top over Nvidia. I can't wait to see their new offerings next year!

Re: Your favourite piece of hardware in 2008?

My favourite hardware is in fact my current system I recently built (just before the dollar started rising in value ^^). You can see it on then left.

I particularly like the antec p180 (looks awesome) and the 4870x2 (great card) and the 5.1 surround sound combo of the G51 and Xonar Dx (what a difference to the silly 2.1 boxes I had).

Re: Your favourite piece of hardware in 2008?

You're not going to like this people...

My favourite piece of hardware in 2008 is an Intel E2220. It came out in the middle of the year as the highest clocked E2*** and at a price that I could afford, finally moving me off my by then almost unusable single core.

Runners up go to: Coolermaster Elite 330, 9800GTX+, WD6400AAKS.

Yes, this year has been big for my PC

2nd is prolly my xbox360.

That's quite an upgrade.

No point in the Xbox when that's available

Re: Your favourite piece of hardware in 2008?

I think the best thing I bought this year is the Thermaltake BlacX 2.5/3.5IN SATA Hard Drive USB2.0 Docking Station. I don't have to install drives in the computer or in external cases, I just pop it in turn it on and away I go. The only thing they could have done better was make it e-sata instead of usb but I love it anyway.

couple of things.

my Raptor X hdd (not only stonkingly fast , but quite mesmerising to watch..)

and an older one, but I only got last year and I like, a Creative X-Fi usb card for my laptops. makes a helluva difference
(I'm one of those people resolutely sticking to xp atm, so I haven't had the well documented probs with vista with it)

Well not exactly hardware per se I would have to go with the ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme, especially the Copper one. I entrust 4 of my overclocked CPU's to them without fear. Just wish 2 of the 4 never required so much lapping.
