exclamation 4670hd & some problems with Fallout3
Hello there


I bought powercolor 4670hd 1gb recently and the games run well on mid textures but Fallout 3 had some problems.
I updated the CCC to the latest version 2/12/2008
Updated DX to the latest version too.
Patched the game with the patch released.
disabled fdd filter and uninstalled all the codec permanently mmm.
But the game still shut down itswlf in certain locations , I had to open the game again and load the last save , That's totally annoying. I don't know what to do .....

I don't think that's a problem with the graphics card or driver, more the stability of the game itself (though you could be more specific as to what the problem is). I've had problem with Fallout 3 "freezing" from time to time, especially when trying to make a Quick Save, regardless of the driver I used (my video is x1650Pro).

I think there is something like conflict with some softwares and the game but I can't assure.
I am real sorry about that It's a great game and this thing should't happen.

Finally the problem solved by lowering the resolution to 800*600 (1024*768 worked as well) and lowering the AA to 2x but there is no way I can have AF as I discovered it is the problem whenever I put it the game lag and CTD from time to time .

Any other solution I found on the web doesn't work like disabling page file.

It sounds more like a heat issue. Put the fan manualy to 90% + and leave it there. Then start the game and see how it goes.

Just tried that worked for 15 mintues then CTD . It seems like said above coding problem in the game or ATI driver problem.

install 8.10 hotfix
reboot
try again

doesn't sound like a temperature problem. Sounds like a software/driver problem. What card did you have before the 4670, did you uninstall it properply?
If you installed fallout 3 before changing cards, try reinstalling it, backing up any save games.

Can you also check if the same problem exists in any other "recent"/intensive games?

Sorry for the delayed reply but as I said in other threads there were some problems with the ISP.

I tried bluemac solution and it worked with version 6.14 ccc very well. I didn't experience any ctd except one time.

I had an integrated gpu . Don't know how to uninstall it anyway. It doesn't appear in device manager. I reinstalled win xp media center but the problem stills with the latest ccc.
