Quad core multitasking....

I have firefox on along with 2 IE7 windows and I'm extracting 5gb rar and scanning a partition. I have a Q9450 with 2gb OCZ ram...am I supposed to be lagging? o.0 Will getting more RAM help? Gonna be such a pain removing the video card..... x.x

you need more RAM man, 4 gigs minimum 8 gigs recommended, 16 gigs best amount

remember that you MUST have a 64bit OS installed in order for it to recognize all 4GB+ properly.

i'd think 4gb would be sufficient, unless you plan to scan and extract 24/7

Extracting using a different partition to the one you're scanning will drastically increase multitasking performance. Bear in mind your hard drive is always the weakest link if you have multiple read/writes

while the hardrive would be the weakest link..... i wouldn't expect lagging unless you were trying to load other programs.....

is the mouse lagging, what exactly are you lagging with.. the entire machine just lagging? a little more specifics would be nice because even with a few other things, the entire machine shouldn't be coughing even with 2gb of ram imo.

4gb is real nice though
