My PCs aren't recognising my Fantom Drive Ext. HDD
Anyone hazard a guess as to why?
It turns on ok, connected up via USB2.0, but for some reason the computer doesn't recognise it, neither does my girlfriends. It's an American hard drive but the power supply doesn't need a converter for some reason (in terms of electrical current), just a plug converter. Well I got one of those and it's all turned on fine - so I'm presuming electricity is running fine through it! Plus you can hear the drive running, that sort of whirring sound. Anyway I'm completely stumped and the Fantom Drive manual is no help either. Any ideas?

You have installed the newest chipset drivers?

Did you try another USB port? When you plug it in do you get a "found new hardware" in the tool bar?

Thanks for the replies guys. Couldn't find any chipset drivers on the website at all. The manual says XP comes with all the stuff already on to recognise it.
When I plug it into the USB port I don't get any recognition of anything attached at all, it's weird!

Is the drive brand new, or you've had it awhile and it quit working? Your system should see it as soon as you plug it into the USB port unless it's a bad drive or a bad cable.
