DVD Read/Write Speed

I've noticed a major decrease in my DVD-/+R DL Drives read/write speed.
It used to read a 8.5GB DVD in 15 minutes(8X, I think), but now it takes about 1 hour.
I recently reset BIOS defaults, could this have any impact on it? or is it something else?

Re: DVD Read/Write Speed

You may have somehow disabled Ultra DMA mode for the controller the DVD Drive is on.

Re: DVD Read/Write Speed

or if u were on ACHI mode the default settings might have switched it back to IDE, while still using the ACHI driver.

Scurvy: same discs

I am using IDE connections, so I'll check the DMA.
Thanks

Re: DVD Read/Write Speed

age also has an impact.. as well as enviromental conditions..

not to mention number of times used.

The laser lens could be getting dirty requireing the drive to slow the disc down to get proper reading capabilities.

This is known to happen....
