Looks impressive. It's stock test results were comparable to those of other boards when overclocked. On the other hand, how come that, in the video transcoding test for example, the performance grew by less than 10% after overclocking the CPU from 2.66 to 3.8GHz?! Still, I'd like to see that board in a possible 3rd roundup of X58 boards on DH.

Re: If ur in the market for x58 mobo, u should read this beforehand...
it was an unfair OC in comparison to the other boards. it was the only board that had an OC of 3.8Ghz where the other boards were OCed at 3.5Ghz sure, it's only 300Mhz, but those 300Mhz would mean a significant difference.
but, that's just me i guess. |

lol. I remember back in the day you loved Abit, and didn't like Asus much. But those were the days with Oscar Woo at the helm & the almighty NF7-S. |

Re: If ur in the market for x58 mobo, u should read this beforehand...
never had problems with ASUS. I never had to work with the RMA service of ASUS itself but did it through the shop.
The was the time I burned up 3 boards in a very short time period. But then that was my case causing a short circuit or something. But they never gave me any trouble and finally I ended up trading in my P5K for a P5Q-e because the P5K was at the end of life.

When did that move happen. I thought he was with Foxconn still. Oscar Woo is still with DFI, and if you take a look at the overclocking options you'll still see they are leaps ahead of everyone else in that department.

I'm not sure about boards for Intel CPUs, but on the AMD side, believe it of not, ASROCK has come on strong on the last year or two. Not necessarily the greatest overclockers, but good, solid, and reliable with quite a few features, and very price competative.

Re: If ur in the market for x58 mobo, u should read this beforehand...
i overheard from some friends that Biostar boards are not that bad... one of my friends works in a PC repair shop, and he said that he never had an RMA of a Biostar board...
anybody has any info on the subject...? PS: just for the record, i have a Geforce7200GS with passive cooling manufactured by Biostar... the GFX card is clocked 24/7 (CPU: from 450MHz to 638MHz, RAM: from 500MHz to 688MHz)... the idle temp is 63 celzius, and when under load about 67, 68 degrees... judging by this experince, i would definetly buy a Biostar board the next time i'm shopping for a new board...

i would buy a product also based on the manufacturer's customer service ability. for exmple ASUS. I know they have great products and all, but horrible customer service. i wouldn't buy an ASUS product simply because of that.

at first, i never wanted an EVGA board since the Nvidia chipsets sucked... but since they now use Intel chips, and solid state caps.... i want their advanced RMA service.

Re: If ur in the market for x58 mobo, u should read this beforehand...
the new thing about EVGA's Advanced RMA plan, is that you need to purchase it right then and there when you register the product. It's not like before, that you had 30 days to decide if you wanted to purchase it or not. that part sucks for all of the EVGA customers.
Their warranty still holds true though. register within 30 days and you get the lifetime warranty on the product, or the extra year warranty if you have a 1+1 warranty on your product |

Re: If ur in the market for x58 mobo, u should read this beforehand...
yea i know about the payment for the advanced RMA and stuff like that.... register within 30 days to get their service, pay extra up front for the different levels of advanced RMA...
but since theres no one who does it better.... what can you do? its fine by me considering the price of a system altogether...
