Which is better for PhysX?? 9600GT or AGEIA PhysX card???
I have the option of getting either of these for a bit of physx acceleration- i know a shop where they still have a AGEIA card gathering dust and I can get it for the same price of a used 9600GT.
what would be better? |

Not sure on the comparison but I am going to find out on the 9600GT as a dedicated Phyx card this weekend (I hope). I just have to install the newest drivers on my XP drive and finish putting my new rig together.

Re: Which is better for PhysX?? 9600GT or AGEIA PhysX card???
I'd say 9600GT. DH compared performance with GTX 280 and 9400 as dedicated PhysX cards and it was almost identical (here). Compare GTX 295, GTX 295 + 280 and GTX 285 +9400 results; 295+280 is on top, but 295+9400 is only a couple of fps behind and way ahead of 295 without a dedicated PhysX card, so I'd say that if such a weak GPU like 9400 packs enough punch for PhysX in modern games, I'd trust the much more powerful 9600GT to be superior to the original AGEIA card which is now a couple of years old.

Re: Which is better for PhysX?? 9600GT or AGEIA PhysX card???
I am thinking along the same lines Ivan and it would be much easier for scurvy to implement this as he is already using NV cards and only needs one driver. This means on Vista he should be fine for me I have to go to XP and see how I can manage 2 drivers because I am using an HD4870 and can't use Vista for this.
Either way I hope to feed back on this later today or tomorrow I have a system to setup and 2 drives to reformat and install OS's on.

No worries man and thanks for the link I will be testing on Mirror's Edge and Vantage. I just got my ORB stuff sorted with Futuremark so I can use my Pro account to post results again
