??? Triple channel memory speed?

I just installed 6gb of the Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600. How can I tell what frequency it's running at? It shows it as 529mhz but seeing as how it's in triple channel, do I multiply that by 3? Why in hell does it show my max bandwidth as PC3-10700?!?! And, what is the NB Frequency?

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

IIRC your NB frequency is = Your Uncore Frequency. Uncore is the clock speed of your memory controller + L3 cache.

Since according to JEDEC spec, DDR3 has to be 1.5V or lower. Therefor your max ram speed is 667MHz, which is equivalent to PC3-10700 (667x16).

Now you really don't need to worry about any of this as it really won't affect performance at all.

And you are using a Dell so I don't know if you have any control over your memory voltage, uncore ratio, or DRAM ratio.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

The 730x bios is unlocked so I can change anything in the bios that I need to. So, what's the point of having DDR3-1600 if it's only going to run at 1066 speeds? That's pretty retarded. How can I increase the speed, or can I?

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

Increase your DRAM ratio, but you'll need to raise your Vdimm/DRAM voltage as well. According to your SPD it requires 1.65V. Don't take it higher than that or you'll risk damaging the memory controller.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

Well, I already have my voltage set at 1.65v so, I dunno what else to do.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

Look for memory ratio settings in your BIOS as BIOS doesn't always set RAM properly. It set my DDR3-1333 to 444Mhz on this ASUS mobo by default.

Adjust the ratio and strap to best suit your RAM (to DDR3-1600) and the voltage of 1.65V is fine.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

It is usually called DRAM ratio, it should be near wherever you adjust the memory timings generally.

Yep it is and good advise so far Bro but remember PH3N0M doesn't O/C so he might not be familiar with these settings. And a good time to point out to some of the members here that settings like these aren't just for O/Cing they are there to fine tune your system.

Okay, here is what I see when I go to change my ram settings.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

These are not the settings you want ... change X.M.P. to manual and you will see them.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

Well, I changed the XMP to manual and still didn't give me an option anywhere to change the speed from 1066 to 1600 and it still shows the same thing in CPUZ. I've also posted this issue on Corsair's support forum.

I have the option of 6, 8, 10, and 12 for the memory ratio and I've already set the voltage to 1.65v but I can't find any option to change the memory to 1600.

Thanks for all your help so far.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

The memory ratio should be the lowest (6) I should think since the max FSB of the board is 1600Mhz. It depends how they set the ratios up. Do you have a link to a .pdf for the mobo manual or an exact part number?

If I can look through the BIOS myself after work I may see something .... or someone else might.

Re: Triple channel memory speed?

Does the memory support XMP? If so it should set the right DRAM clocks on its own. IF your board supports PC3-1600. Because not all boards do.
