Re: I bought a new case at last

I've got the Cosmos S, and although it is one excellent case you can't really use the holes that are in the backplate for wiring, because the room between that backplate and the rearpanel is just not wide enough to run the thicker wires through.
with some extra fans my OC'd E6600@3.2Ghz idles at 25C=79F, mobo at 30C=86F.. pity my 4850 is running at 55C idle at stock. I blame the one slot stock cooler for that.

I don't think I'm gonna replace this case any time soon though, because I love it.
I just think Coolermaster should make the space between the rearpanel and moboplate a little wider to run the cables through.
I'll do a summer cleanup + rewiring soon, maybe I'll post some pics about it, so you understand what I mean.

I'm a real fan of Cooler Master cases, but it looks like CORSAIR is going to put that to the test. Their OBSIDION 800D, which they are releasing very soon, looks to be a REALLY nice case. I think that Corsair are going to be giving Cooler Master a run for their money.

Re: I bought a new case at last

that is one of my suggestions i sent coolermaster.. along with several others such as using the larger 140mm fans all around and a slight change to the hardrive bay that uses a combination of the orginal Cosmos 1000 hardrive bay but adds a twist to it.. (2 5.25" drive bays only, remainer is left open for fans and hardrives to be mounted)

This is something i did REALLY quick just now... i've got better "design" images that are better scaled, explained, and easier to understand.. but this gives you an idea..

yes they did alot of the things i wanted.. but they also still have things i don't really care for..

I'm not a fan of the corsair case itself, i like what they did, but the outside appearance isn't exactly my cup of tea nor is some of the way they designed SOME of the internals...

Re: I bought a new case at last

are you suggesting there to mount the HDD's in a 45 degree angle?
Isn't that potentially gonna hurt those hard drives?

Re: I bought a new case at last

no a 30 degree angel..

and as far as i understand.. it shouldn't effect the disk in the least bit, even less if you have SSDs, the reason the 30 degree angel or 45 degree was an idea, was to allow far better airflow and better directional forced airflow across the drives, the orginal cosmos drive bay design looked great and worked great aside from the poor airflow issue due to being vertical, a horrizontal design wouldn't prove any better, with the angle they could actually work something.

Re: I bought a new case at last

yea, if it doesn't hurt the internals of the drives it's a great idea. The positioning of the drives forces the air to the left upper corner out of the case, while it provides a pointy edge to 'cut' the air instead of the air hitting the flat side of the drives which breaks airflow. besides that it takes up less space to mount drives.
how ingenious

Re: I bought a new case at last

just a fyi.. the connectors for the drive would be in the back.. meaning the other side where all the cables would be ran..

VERY much the same as the corsair....
