Question about AMD Phenom-II 940.?

Question about AMD Phenom-II 940.?

Question 1:
Does it support 32 bit operating system.?
or does it only support 64 bit OS only.?

Question 2:
Also, if I use 32 bit OS, will I have to rip out 4-gigs of memory out of the 8-gigs I have installed,
to be able to use 32-bit OS, because 32 bit os only supports up to 4 gigs only.?

would like to know this.

Thanks.

all CPUS support both, why?

and you wont have to remove the memory, it just wont be addressed

Re: Question about AMD Phenom-II 940.?

Building a dualboot system, which will include Mac Open source Hackintosh OS,
and XP SP3 x32-bit and XP SP3 x64.
A total of 3 operating syetems in the syetem

Just needed to know if it was compatible to x32 bit OS's

I thought it did not, I thought it was for 64-bit only.

QUESTION:

Can I run Hackintosh on Phenom-II 940 CPU and Asus M3A Mobo & AMD HD-3870 video card as well.?

If it don't , will it work on AMD Phenom 9500.?

Im planning on building a XP and Mac Hackintosh Dual boot system.
And since I bought a Gigabyte UD4 motherboard for my main PC.

I don't want my M3A to go to waste and use it for my Hackintosh System I want build.

Planning on running Protools M-Powered v8 and Reason 4.0 and Wavelab 5.

Instead of buying a VERY expensive overpriced MAC system from Apple themselves.

I want to build my own system with PC parts and just use Hackintosh on it,
and dual boot it with Windows XP SP3,
Eventually, one of the XP SP's will be exchanged for the Windows 7.

So in the end, I will have 2 computer systems,
1. PC System and 1. Hackintosh System.

Also, I am on the hunt for a Dual DVI KVM Switch box,
that lets me use a USB keyboard & Mouse and 2 DVI 's for my 2 LCD monitors.

And thank you,
for the rapid response.

I appreciate that, sometimes, people need a quick reponse at times.
and you did that.

Thanks

Actually it's all 64-bit CPUs support both. You can't run a 64-bit OS with a 32-bit CPU.

As for running XP or Vista 32 bit on your Ph II 940, go for it.

Check out my specs to the left. You will see that I have an XP 32 bit partiion and a Vista 32 bit partition on my system, and they run just fine. They just don't 'see' or try to use the extra 4+ GB of RAM.

Re: Question about AMD Phenom-II 940.?

Ok,

My plans Are this.

Right now my system is running Vista x64-bit OS.

And I have this installed in my computer case now.
Newegg.com - VANTEC MRK-250ST Plastic & Aluminum Alloy 2.5" Black USB 2.0 & SATA External Enclosure - External Enclosures

Company Website Product Info:
http://www.vantecusa.com/front/product/view_detail/225

And im thinking If I buy the cartridges to hold the HDD's in the cartridge.

This is the drive I will install inside the Swappable cartridge.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136280

I can install Mac Open Source Hackintosh on it and I can just HOT SWAP in and out.

So when I want to create music in MAC, Just hot swap the MAC OS Cartidge in and
reboot system to the MAC drive Cartridge.
I can then do my music in Protools and Reason within MAC OS foundation.
and when Im done,

Shut down, take out the Cartridge HDD and boot back up in Vista x64.
And play Crysis and Mass Effect again....... ROFL

This way I would have Swappable OS's.
using the unit in the link above.

This will avoid partitioning completely, as the swappable HDD cartridge will have the entire drive dedicated to its own OS MAC Hackintosh.

I can do the same for XP and Windows 7 when the final comes out.

Just change cartridge and boot into the new OS.

What do ya think.???
