No idea, but it's always fun to see what "might" be.

Re: AMD Phenom II 955 (3.2 GHz) Benchmarks

It's good to assume that II 955 will be exactly same as II 940 but jus 200 mhz faster, so obviously most tests will jus show a small increase, as shown above. I can prolly make those graphs by comparing II 920 to II 940 and adding a proportional amount to get II 955 >.<

Not terribly interesting, but what is interesting is that TomsHardware is reporting that AMD is going to release 2GB and 4GB 4890x2 gaming video cards soon. Two 4GB video cards in Crossfire mode = holy crap!!!

If it were true , I bet they did that just to help people move the "view distant" slider in GTA IV to max.

Doesn't look like anything for someone with a 940 to get excited about though. Shucks, a 940 will OC to 3.2 if you give it a stern look

Big thing is the fact that it will run on either DDR2 or DDR3 memory. Looks like a perfect CPU for someone with an older AM2 processor that wants to upgrade in steps. Put the 955 in an existing board to get a performance boost with the older board/mem right away, then save up some more for a new MB and DDR3.

Pissed Re: AMD Phenom II 955 (3.2 GHz) Benchmarks

That's a fake!!

In this test 955 it's very similar to 940... and this is imposible because the ddr3 memory and AM3 socket. 955 has 400mhz more than 940 and a new architecture....

it's probably that they are not near to i7 (because phenom II are a lot of more cheaper) but new phenoms II 955 must win clearly to old phenom II 940/920.

greetings

Not as easy as that my friend, there are so many variables when it comes to testing. Which also include environment: cooling, OS etc all these are important when considering the validity of a test also the software used for testing...........

so don't get pissed without this info the validity is in question ... interesting nevertheless

I don't take much stock in synthetic benchmarking, it's long been proven certain benchmarks favor certain platforms, I prefer REAL world testing, done thrice.

Those first few Everest results didn't look too promising...But then again, the II 955 is probably $1000 cheaper than the 965...

I agree with SeraphicSorcerer..real world testing is what matters

Re: AMD Phenom II 955 (3.2 GHz) Benchmarks

I just read that this is an OC'd 940 not genuine 955. These are the same benchmarks I saw on another sites the exact screens and some of the comments say this was a simulated benchmarks.

I am quite interested in this because I want to put the 955 in my new computer I'm building.

Here is the site I got the discussion where it say their are simulated.

so essentially. anyone even remotely thinking about getting a 4gb single card... without interest in crossfire.. won't be even able to use any 32bit OS at all...
