Looking for good 3in1 printer
Hello there,
I am looking for a good 3in1 printer/scanner/copier with a resonable price , not for heavy work just for home light use . I prefer the scanner to be on top of the device so I can scan books as well as papers with no problem.I think samsung is nice but I would like to hear you advice.

I've got an HP psc1315 that I've had for several years..... it's still working great and has the top scanner you are looking for.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
I have a HP Deskjet f2180 that has everything i need,And if its just for everyday use its excellent for the price (£50 UK).
The photo quality is actually surprisingly clear...It's just a pity the price of the HP Ink cartridges would cost around £35-£40 to replace..As this uses a separate color & Black cartridge. |

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
Tyrson , I googled HP psc1315 but I find it a bit expensive for me = 130 USD .
MIG , really that is almost the same price as the whole device when replacing cartridges , Hom many paper will it print in average on one cartridge . And How about the other brand prices "the device and the cartridge..

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
HP gets a lot for their ink...... sad to say. My 1315 was $99 about 3 years ago... the 1310 is cheaper and pretty much the same unit... My Father got one of those for around $60 I think.

Epson Stylus SX200. I bought it last October and I am very satisfied with it.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
Well, if you want to "bend over and spread'em" when it's time to buy ink...go ahead and buy an HP, or Lexxmark, or, Epson.
If you DON'T want to feel like you've been raped when you buy ink, go with a CANON. Now if you are going to be doing a LOT of scanning, especially mutiple SHEETS, then this one would be really good, since it has a sheet feeder as well as a flatbed option: Newegg.com - Canon PIXMA MX700 2186B002 Up to 30 ppm 4800 x 1200 dpi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer - Printer - Inkjet Printers Canons do tend to cost a bit more to buy, but their operating costs more than make up for that. One thing to look for is a printer that, like the MX700, uses seperate cartriges for black and EACH color. Tht way you only replace the color that you have to. It does make a difference. I have the MP530 which is very similar, and it has TWO black cartriges. One for text and one for photo. IF you can find a REFURBISHED/REMANUFACTURED MP500 or MP530, then one of those could be an excellent way to go as well. The difference between the two is that the 530 has FAX capability and the 500 doesn't. I have both of them. The wife uses the 500, and I use the 530. Also, be aware that you will need a USB cord like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812816019 since NONE of the printer manufacturers include one with the printer.

I was surprised to see at least one manufacturer selling the USB cables with the printer at work, I can't remember which one it was, i'll check tonight, but there are still some who follow the legacy of parallel/USB - "we don't know which connection you want, so we'll make you buy it yourself" as for cheap to run - I've been tempted to pick up one of the Kodak offerings, their printer ink is rediculously cheap, but I can't say i've checked the print quality vs the other brands

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
Yeah, one of the things KODAK stress is the low cost of their ink. I've seen a review or two, and they do seem to be pretty decent pinters.
However, they only use a 2 cartridge system. 1 for black, and 1 for all of the other colors. So if you run out of one color, you have to replace the whole cartridge even though there is still plenty of the other colors available. I think that in the long run, especially if you do a LOT of printing, the individual color cartridge system that Canon uses in their printers would be cheaper.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
So It's better to pay more when buying with advantage of paying less when replacing/refilling ink. About refilling what marks of printers that support that.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
It's better to get a printer that has more than 3 seperate cartridges inside it.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
HP HATES! refilling of cartridges.......... they don't want to lose the income from ripping you off for ink. You can do it mind you, but it bugs the shyt out of them...

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
Most of the new printers use ink carts with chips in them now to keep you from re-filling them.
You would need to find a way the 're-set' the chip to make re-filling a viable option. The wife decided to try refilling carts back when we had an older Canon w/o the chipped carts. All it ended up doing was plugging up the ink nozzles

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
just to add my 2cents on the subject refilling of cartridges is not a viable solution to your printing needs coz the print quality goes down big time, as every one has already said the best thing would be to get a printer that the cartridges are cheep otherwise you will be spending a bundle on inc
i prefer HP but inc is a pain in the ass!!

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
I have been following along and have an HP PSC 1210 that I have been quite happy with. On refilling cartridges I have never had any luck with it
![]() comp_ali be wary as well on some of the newer printers my boss's son just picked one up recently will have to check the model number. If you are out of one base colour in the cartridges it won't allow you to print at all.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
HP comes with it's own, other manufacturers probably do as well. I don't think there is a "universal" program though that works with all printers.

It really depend on where you are and if the company has offices based where you live (e.g. Egypt)

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
Today I wandered through a couple of computer stores and one of them recommended me a cannon 3in1 model which uses 5 cartridges (2black , 3 colors) , can print on CD/DVD , it isn't avaliable at the store recently so I couldn't have a look on the model or the shape .He told me it is 140$ , from the price and specs with googling I guess it is canon Mp 610 . what do you think guys.

Re: Looking for good 3in1 printer
Looking at the Canon web site, the MP 610 isn't shown as being currently available. However, they do show the MP 620 which is in that price range.
Comparing the specs, the MP 610 would give you better quality photos, and scans. The MP 620 does give you WIRELESS capability in exchange for the lesser quality print/scan. Either one would be a very good printer though. Also, just because I say 'lesser quality', don't let that out you off. Even the 'lesser quality' is very, very good. One question though: Will you be doing a LOT of scanning of single sheets? If so, and your budget would allow for it, you should take a look at the MX700, OR if you can find one, the MP 530. Those 2 have a SHEET FEEDER for scanning, copying, and FAXING, which saves a LOT of time when you are processing multiple sheets. Note that these 2 have FAX capability as well. Anyone one of those 4 Canon printers will do a very good job for you.
