Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

Has anyone else seen one of these in the flesh? I was totally blown away today and I don't normally rate plasma TV's. The picture quality is absolutely unbelievable. tons of picture technology in it including 2,000,000:1 contrast and its THX certified with a refresh time of 0.001 milliseconds.

Products - VIERA Plasma and LCD TVs - Overview - VIERA | 600Hz NeoPDP - UK & Ireland

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_G...360/index.html

http://vieraneopdp.panasonic.eu/

Might be the next thing on my shopping list (42 inch version). Panasonic Viera NeoPDP G10 Series 42" TX-P42G10

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

I have only seen then Samsung LCD 240hz with motion interpolation which i thought was even better then the 120hz motion interpolation capabilities of the previous samsung tvs.. such as the 6 series lcd's.... and i already thought that those tv's looked unbeleiveably clear and sharp, so i was further astounded by the doubling again of clarity on the 240hz.

I don't know if that panasonic tv is available yet to even demo/view here....

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

Well I have a samsung series 6 32 inch 100hz tv in my bedroom and its stunning. I think this panasonic is even better mind you and I didn't think it was possible.

The 42inch is around £1,100 here which is considerably more than the market price for the usual high quality 42 inch however with all the technology in this, I can understand it.

Seeing this in action however with bluray is really quite breathtaking and im very fussy in regards to picture quality.

Check out the links in my first post, really worth looking into if you value your HD movie content.

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

some amazing specs there Z.... cheap too, can get the TC-P42G10 here for around $1015

difference between TC and TX must be some regional thing, probably utility voltage....

Newegg.com - Panasonic VIERA 42" 1080p 600Hz Plasma HDTV TC-P42G10

maybe a Paul's TV around here has one....

Yeah the 6 series is damn impressive. if you ever get a chance to see a Samsung 950 9 series LCD with the independant LED back lighting, it's even more impressive, imo better then the 6000/7000/8000 in terms of contrast ratio and uniformity. The only thing i like the 8000 over the 950 is the fact that the 240hz is damn impressive.

Obviously, 600hz is just crazy, being 10 times more then NA 60hz frequency and 12 times for your area's 50hz.... I doubt panasonic is interpolating all 10 or 12 extra frames, perhaps 1/2 of the total extra frames they are jamming in there are interpolated though. Doesn't really say what they are doing. The technology is impressive either way.

Now if only they can produce a tv/monitor with PC inputs using digital connections that would allow us to feed 120hz therefore giving TRUE 120fps potentially.

For the quality it offers I believe 1000 quid is nothing. I am glad you can buy one and good luck with it. Provide pictures if you do

One thing I don't like though is the 1080p limit. Of course they didn't have PC gamers when they built that thing lol.

1080p vs 1920x1200 isn't ALL that big of a deal imo..

sure it is nice to have that extra 120 pixels in heigth... but meh..

that's what 2160p is for

For me it is a huge deal. Sure if we were talking about 2460vs 2340 I wouldn't mind, but 1080vs1200 makes a big difference to screen estate.

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

1920x1200 = 2.304 million pixels
1920x1080 = 2.073 million pixels..

so your losing about 230,000 pixels worth of realestate.... 1920x120..

I agree it is handy to have that we bit 120pixel heigth, but within a month of using a 1080p machine, i really didn't notice it that often... but i DEFINITELY missed 2560x1600

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

I wouldn't care if you managed to make it look like you only gained 30 pixels. I said that for me it is a huge matter and it still is. It automaticaly makes two of the most common resolutions worthless, 1920x1200 and 1600x1200. For a huge monitor that is a big turn off for me.

Of course, this is a TV not a monitor.

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

what a bizarre conversation --This is a TV, not a computer monitor. there is absolutely no current requirement for a TV to have support for 1200p as movies are not sold in that format and you would end up with additional vertical bars or a slightly distorted image to compensate.

If I want maximum computer deskspace I use a 30 inch computer monitor at 2560x1600...

Stunningly im agreeing with judas however, I notice very little difference between 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 when playing a PC game, in fact I would prefer a 42inch screen at 1920x1080 than a 24 inch screen at 1920x1200. Personal taste I guess and I would never touch a 4:3 1600x1200 res anymore as it looks fugly.

I agree, but there are games out there (older games mostly) that only support up to that resolution.

Well, there is winSPMBT that I play every day (mostly PBEM), then there is ST:BOTF, C&C Renegade (that while supports WS resolutions it stretches to do so), and so on.

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

Yeah, it is a great place for that. Thanks. Unfortunately some games are just impossible to change them unless they were designed to support or the developers are willing to make the huge changes to do it. In the cases of my older games, not going to happen and although winspmbt is constantly updated by the fantastic people at shrapnel-camo workshop, it's not going to happen. As for Renegade and ST:BOTF, I think you can guess if there is going to be a patch for them or not.

Anyway, sorry to hijack your thread.

some of you may know how i feel about shutter glasses and stereo.

imagine having a 60 incher , tv with stereo vision. I'd very happy if i could afford something like this.

I'm a big CRT fan, but I'd rather have plasma over an LCD anyday!

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

that TV made me jizz in my pants...

it's a bummer though because it's missing a few things that I feel should be standard on all TV's these days: WLAN b/g/(n?) and USB slots (yes, plural) with Xvid and/or H.264 support

that would be the ultimate TV. No need for popcorn hour etc...

I guess if you wanted to watch movies from a hard drive directly into the tv then yeah. I watch all the media from a computer however so its never going to be touched. Same as the Samsung Tv I have atm.

Re: Panasonic Viera NeoPDP 600hz TV

quite expensive really for what you get, the drive in it you can get for about 70 quid now.

Do people not use a media computer for their tv's? I would have thought a higher percentage on driverheaven have dedicated media center configurations.
