Okay, I have a slight issue. Since using my new Dell 30", when I power on or reboot, I don't see a BIOS screen. In fact, the monitor remains off until it begins loading the desktop. Is there something I can do to remedy this? If there isn't then I'll have to connect a different monitor anytime I need to make adjustments in the BIOS.

The old CRTs used to be on straight away but I have noticed the new flatscreens don't register the power on immediately. Not sure if there is anything you can do about this. It's probably all about power-saving. Don't you like being 'green'?

But if you did want to go into the BIOS you just press 'DEL' or whatever button to get into the BIOS and by the time you enter the BIOS your Dell monitor would have fully powered up. So you shouldn't need to change monitor - you just use it blind when you want to enter the BIOS...

what coz said..... lol it happens, i know my 26" takes longer to boot than other monitors i used....

just press your BIOS key until your monitor boots up

Well, I tried pressing my BIOS key numerous times but the monitor never booted up. It still doesn't boot up until it begins loading the logon screen for Windows. This sucks because I can't do anything in the BIOS.

- Are you using the same video setup as that in your listed specs? If so, which of the 2 video cards, and which of the DVI ports are you using to hookup to your monitor? Are you using HDMI to to your monitor, and if so, is it by a DVI to HDMI adapter?

- Which Dell 30" are you using, and how many connections does it have? Is it set to auto switch ports, with the default being a port other than the one you are using for your computer? If so, can you switch it to always be on that port by default?

Yes, I'm using the same video setup. The lcd is connected tot he GPU in PCIE-2.0 slot #1. It's connected via a DVI-D cable from the monitor to the GPU.


I'm using the Dell 3007WFP-HC Rev A02 and it only has a single DVI connector. That was the first thing I checked. I couldn't tell you if it's set to auto-switch or if that's even possible.

I guess I could try switching the cable from one port to the other and see if maybe that fixes the issue.

when u do get into your bios, try changing the init display option perhaps?

I know when i used sli I had to make sure that the init display is pointed to pci-e x16 1, anything else and the monitor stays blank until the loading windows screen.

I assume your old monitor plugged into the exact same slot? try plugging into the other slot on the first gpu and see what happens. otherwise it may be your monitor connection.

I found the problem. I had my 50" connected to the other port and the second I removed it and rebooted, everything acted normal i.e. the BIOS screen appeared as it should. Thanks, again!!!!

Out of curiosity, which port exactly? The one closest to the VIVO/SVGA header, or the one furthest from it? The reason I ask is that the one furthest from is DVI 1 (or port a).

I am going to have to go with a bios option that init display first. If not that try switching ports. like Tipstaff Suggested, Either way, the options are pretty much covered, or your 30 inch is clearly taking a uber amount of power that isnt directly forwarded until windows startup or some other weirdness (Full signal display).

Umm, my cards are upside down so if I'm looking at the back of my PC, the port I have my lcd plugged into is on the left.
