Frogpad: one handed Keyboard
I posted this a couple of days ago and some of you may have missed it, I think its a pretty cool idea, and Maximum PC have stated these keyboards are popular for those of you who go to chat rooms - not quite sure why **cough**
![]() Houston, TX - FrogPad is now fully underway and shipping its innovative, one-handed keyboards worldwide. FrogPad is the only fully functional, one-handed keypad available on the market today. Unlike its competitors such as folding keyboards, miniature Qwerty keypads, electronic ink and voice-recognition, which clutter the desktop and require both hands, FrogPad is a space saver that is easy to use and only involves one hand. However, the keys are standard size making it easy to use for both adults and children alike. Initial usability studies have found that an average person learns to "touch-type" in about the same time it takes to learn how to write “graffiti” on a PDA. The keypad and its one-handed operation also provide an effective data entry method for children and requires very little time for training, which is a strong benefit for enterprise users looking to maintain costs associated with support and training. “The drive for miniaturization, as well as the need for an effective and simple mobile data entry device, makes the FrogPad a true frontrunner in the race to develop a new standard for global keyboards,” states Tim Scannell, President and Chief Analyst at Shoreline Research. “The technology format is ideal for Web-enabled wireless phones, handheld computers, and the rapidly evolving segment of tablet PCs and wearable PC’s.” The keypad is designed for fast, one-handed data entry. The letters are arranged according to frequency of use. The top fifteen letters typists use 86 percent of the time are located in the most convenient positions and are arranged according to the natural typing and drumming motion of the hand. “FrogPad’s patented algorithm and one-handed design make it portable and effective for many form factors used in mobile applications. “It will even enhance gaming-enabled devices,” states Linda Marroquin, FrogPad’s CEO and President. “We offer that FrogPad is the major breakthrough in Human Computer Interfaces and the next global standard for data entry.” FrogPad continues to set the standard for mobility in keyboard technology. Products are being shipped throughout the world and are adding value to many markets. From meeting the needs of disabled persons to making life easier for the enterprise user, FrogPad continues to make leaps and bounds in its development as the keyboard of the future now becomes reality. That looks like a good idea for small devices but I prefer something more ergonomic for the desktop soemthing like this http://www.fingerworks.com/overview.html#touchstream its Expensive but it also takes over for the mouse and has all kinds of hand shortcuts like cut and paste with your hand. If only they had it down to about $130 or $140 or so and I would so Pick one up
