yes the server is slow now, it was fast earlier, until the USA woke up

my opinion now on the new 1060 pack is that I have noticed better performance, much more so than 1050. its well worth a look, it backs all the files up anyway, so if you need to revert its a simple matter of deinstalling.

downloaded OK, started off at 120KB/s and finished at 160KB/s using DAP.
I installed it on my VMWARE installation of XP and all is fine.

Still, being a beta I would not install it on my main XP installation for nothing in the world.

One thing that is fixed with the new build is the issue with tv-out being hooked up with the Catalyst drivers installed. (Issue that I mentioned I was trying to work with ATi on )

On the older SP1 beta if you had tv-out hooked up and SP1 plus Catalyst it would not boot properly.........it would get to the point where windows was loading to the desktop then stop and wait 2 mins before it would boot into a mode that was 640x480. If you tried to adjust the resolution to a higher one then it stayed at 640x480 but went to 4 color mode...thats right not 4bit but 4 color.

With this thats now been fixed

Finally got it. Loaded it on my laptop and seems to work fine. I'll have to have a better look at it tomorrow (family over for supper now).

At least you are able to remove it if necessary.

I just don’t want to be working my ass off getting his machine to work again if by some chance he finds this SP1 1060 build out there. I heard there is a program that will let you go in and change the key code without reinstalling. But does anyone know of another Corp key that will work with this or 1050 build? Anyways thanks in advance.
PM me. FCK key is hell & will not work on SP1.

The more I think about it, the more I'll wait.

Supposedly the OEM's are forcing MS to release SP1 (to them) earlier than August. Ever wonder... SP1, NV30, R300... all around August = DX9 in the final release.

well, Got a chance to have another quick look. Seems pretty fast and stable. I had XP Home Edition before and I still have Home Edition according to the note on the desktop and under system properties but with the new build version Service Pack 1.

Just wondering, has anyone looked into how to disable this "testing purpose" notice on the desktop yet?

use TweakUI to disable it

not only that but what did you expect? of course if you install it on home its still gonna be home :P

service packs dont make you have a more expensive version of the OS lol

My GOD, I can't believe I survived that download . Took about 7 hours. very very fun wait . First thing I noticed after I installed is that my desktop looked nicer. I know that this update isn't a video driver update, but I noticed it, so I guess they must have fixed some form of compatibility issues with ATI cards? It gave me an error when I first started it, but I just pressed "ok" and have not had an error since. Somewhat more responsive. That's all I've noticed. IMO, worth the upgrade and download (all 7 hours worth ).

As someone suggested, TweakUI will not remove the "testing puropses" text from the desktop.

Anyone else know how to remove this?
