Vid Card Bottleneck?
Seems like within the last year, everyone was upgrading their cpu`s to take advantage of the top of the line video cards, in order to allow the cards to reach their full potential. Now I have read several reviews, that indicate the cpu`s, mb`s, and now with the pc3700 memory, are too fast for the current crop of video boards, thus making them the bottleneck! In around 4-5 months Intel will release the prescott, and Amd the 64. So my question is what is ATI and Nvidia doing behind the scenes to keep up! Just curious if the reviews I have read are factual.

well i think that currently video card have reached there limit bandwith wise with the 8X agp intill the agp updates. They now have 256 Megs of v-ram which i think is very well at a good limit. So now its up to ATi and Nvidia to up the cores!

That`s my point and concern also! After alot of folks spend 700 to 900 bucks upgrading their rigs, but still have only the 128mb vid cards, another 4 to 500 bucks for a 256mb vid card sure isn`t chicken feed! But I guess that`s business as usual.

PCI Express
PCI-Express will be the solution to the bandwidth limitation of AGP8X.

Here`s an article I found on pci express. It may be outdated, but if not, the statement about having to purchase a whole new rig in order to utilize video cards incorporating pci express dont sound to good.
