??? GeIL Golden Dragon Dual DDR 512MB(2x256MB) 400MHz Model GD3200, any good?

So I'm cruising NewEgg yesterday and their Barton 2500+ retail is on sale for $90 and they also have what I THINK is gonna be me new memory on sale the GeIL Golden Dragon Dual DDR 512MB(2x256MB) 400MHz Model GD3200 for $99.

Is this sounding like a decent upgrade for Bubbles? I'm not building a new rig like I originally planned, I'm just gonna upgrade Bubbles a bit. (New mobo, CPU, & memory...but the case & viddy card will be the same. )

Oh, the mobo is an MSI K7N2-L and it's bright red and I'm loving it. It came yesterday, I traded me GF4 for it.

I'm not even picking up a decent heatsink/cooler for the CPU yet, I'm going as cheap as humanly possible right now just so I can get away with getting it all...I figure I can add-on down the road. I won't really need to be overclocking it right off the bat anyways.

Any advice is appreciated. I like the idea of going thru NewEgg with the memory just in case there IS a problem/it don't work well because I know I can just exchange it with them without hassles. (Not to mention they have the best service/price/etc. )

seems like very good prices to me, and cereal killer is a big fan of geil memory and has gotten some really good overclocks with the 3500 varient. I dont think for those prices you could go wrong digi.

and oh yes did I say that the bartons ROCK?

You might have mentioned that a time or two...

Did I mention that I'm just sitting here DROOLING over this K7N2-L mobo? It's actually PRETTY! Hot-red with big horking silver heatsinks on it, very sharp!

I'm liking the idea of just starting off stock and building the system up as time allows. No way I could pull off building a new rig right now, but spending less than $200us to upgrade from the Tuly1.4 to a Barton2500+ REALLY seems like it should give Bubbles a little more pep! (Plus I'm pretty sure that Blue will like the Tuly just fine... )

I'm thinking this new CPU should help me see what the 9700 Pro can do, I sort of HAVE to upgrade just to do the viddy card justice.

Thanks for the comments BTW, I think I will order that stuff today. I got the wife half-way to "yes" already, I think a bit of vaccuming & steam cleaning should put me over the top by lunchtime.

I picked up a set of the Geil PC3500 2x512MB sticks and they are running very well for me. I got them as high as 223fsb (446DDR) @ 4-3-3-2.

There was a video review done on them @ 3D GameMan where they received the "kickass" approval!

See the review HERE

I have no complaints whatsoever on the Geil Ram....plus they looks soooo nice!

Good value for the dollar for sure!

Now this looks like some sweet ram. If it will work in a kt266a board, I might have to get some to slap in my system until I can scrounge up enough cash to get a new mobo/cpu to go with it.

What is the deal with this pic? Why are the chips blurred out? Is this what they really look like? Is that some kind of clear stuff on top of the chips? Woe- that's just weird

*Edit*- I just watched that video review- pretty cool-

no further explination necessary-

She's working, and we don't have an upstairs....

Oh, and I'm NOT ordering any parts this weekend....it's been delayed until some unknown future time.

But on the brightside it's 9am and I'm finally getting a chance to drink a cup of joe after being up for a few hours getting the kids up and fed.

The day will improve, it has to!
