okay, got one port free but it does not really makes a difference, no. I think the modular thing is completely overhyped.

You are going for two double 5870s? Cool, but why ?

And you are welcome.

why not?

its possible that ill never get two 5870X2s but since i have an opportunity to sell my current PSU and some hardware, im taking it.... getting a PSU that can handle dual 5870X2s means my system will be ready for anything.

Re: need a new PSU.... AGAIN!

haha so do i man...... but this system has plenty of life in it still and i intend to pump it all out till it goes dry......

if the 5850X2 launches at the same time, i may just consider that as well!

overhyped?

no.. i think not..

and there is a massive difference..

EVEN if you use all the ports on the moduler psu... your still keeping things relatively neat and tidy as your still only using what you NEED. The same PSU without being modular has about 2 to 3 TIMES more power connectors and other garbage...

Eh, if you use all the ports on the modular PSU, or a non modular PSU that you use them all, how is that different Judas?

Re: need a new PSU.... AGAIN!

It's still significantly less as all the ports used are usually still using the specific cables you need with the correct number of power connectors for what you need.

Compared to the others that jam everything even the stuff you don't need into a single set of unchangeable cables..

it makes the difference between appearing neat and tidy with little to no cables and a waud of cables so large it's hard to put them anywhere.

the Corsair 1000HX has a pile of cables i could attach, and i think at most i've filled up 3/4's of the ports, and it's SIGNIFICANTLY less mess then the comparible coolermaster 1000watt+ with the cables there.

....

brings to mind, I got 4 modular cables left for just 1 free port. Somehow the Corsair seems under-equipped in terms of power ports.

Re: need a new PSU.... AGAIN!

considering... yes the corsair do seem to ship with less modular cables then the typical fully loaded psu....

but my 1000HX has PLENTY for even 4 video cards with 2 pci-ex 8pin connectors on each.... i think it's what... 12 sata connectors and more then i'll ever need for 4pin standard molex connectors...

not to mention 2x p4+p4 12v for dual cpu systems.

Re: need a new PSU.... AGAIN!

Btw, interesting that corsair is not mentioning any numbers of pwr ports anywhere in their documentation. They only count the adapter connectors included but you can not use them all @ same time.

If I would have a dual graphics card setup my psu would be choking full with just two HDDs.
